As others have said, your phone has to be right next to it to communicate with it...- “Hold your phone closer… no, closer… now rotate it… now open the app… now update firmware… now try again…” This is not very convenient if you have to fish it out of a sump. Works reasonably well once you finally get it to talk to your phone. But the interface is so terrible it doesn't earn more than 1 star for me. Why does a heater need to talk to your phone at all? Eheim Jaegers have worked well for decades without this nonsense.
The temperature has wild swings from the time I placed them in the tank. They lasted one year before completely giving out. Luckily getting a replacement using the warranty was easy. I decided to add a new heater from another brand and just keep these as a failsafe in-case the temperature gets too low. I had (2) 400w in a 150 gallon tank. I had the temperatures set at 78 and in the summer when the tank got up to 80, these would still power on and off. Changing the temperature is also a real pain. You need to pull them completely out of the water and pray you don’t drop your phone in the water. Save yourself a headache and buy something else.
Never worked. call Sicce and received a replacement and they never worked as well. Avoid this heater.
This heater was so easy to set up and use. No problems with the NFC system or issues with my phone connecting while in use. The appearance of this heater is much more streamlined than the previous heater I was using.
The good thing is that its Italian. After that it goes down hill. The Sicce America phone # is never active and always "out of business hours" no matter when you call them. My heater simply would not link up via the NFC. I tried repeatedly as also the case with the toll free number. I wanted to return it but due to its odd size, the shipping costs nearly as much as the product itself. Time and money I will never get back. I gave one star only since it appears well built. I looked for trouble shooting guides on line but there isn't anything as far as I could tell. Don't buy unless you enjoy pain!
I don’t know how you label it contactless when you have to pull it up out of the sump and spend 10 minutes trying to get it to scan and read the temp, twice if you actually want to change the temp. I let my reef sit at 76 degrees for a month because I didn’t want to fight with it. Unfortunately I bought two, one for my Fowler tank and it has already stopped working after 7 months of use. Sicce needs to stick with pumps. These are worthless heaters.
Just reef junk. Not stable app and nfc works very poorly wotks with android. Tossed it. I will use eheim. AC pumps are ok but not giving a pass here. Done with them
These heaters are terrible. I purchased two of these when I got my waterbox 190. 1 of them died within 6 months and the second struggled to keep the temp at 77. The whole "contactless" portion is a big gimmick and if you want to change a setting or check the tempature you have to pull these out of your tank and get it within tapping distance of your phone for it to scan. I love sicce pumps, but stear clear of these heaters.
So far I am quite pleased with the 200w unit I purchased. The build quality appears to be solid and my unit's performance is better than I expected. My tank hasn't budged from 76 at all (verified from two different controllers), which all my previous heaters failed to do. My only caveat with these heaters is that the Near Field Connection method used to control the heater with your smart phone requires you to place your phone extremely close to the heater, which is less than ideal, but at least with my unit I haven't had to tinker with it beyond the initial setup. If it lasts 5 years, it's an easy 5 stars for me.
Terrible heater. Bought the 300 watt for my 75 gallon to replace my old heater that was letting the tank swing by about 2 degrees at night. Tank was at 78 when I put this in and set it. The next morning my tank was all the way down to 72!! Double and triple checked the settings via the app. When I click “read temperature” on the app it says 78, regardless of whether the tank is at 72 or 78. The heater cycles on and off about every minute and over the course of the entire day was only able to bring the temp from 72 to 73.8, and I suspect that’s just because the house was at that temperature! Upon reading up, this seems to be a very common issue. Not sure this thing could heat a 10 gallon tank. Do not buy, flush your money down the toilet instead.
I’ve got a 200watt and 300watt. the 300 has already been warranty 1 due to it leaking. The replace not even a month later has already died. The 200 has been working flawlessly. And the customer service has been good for the first replacement we will see about the second time around
Everything I've owned Sicce has been quality and this did not disappoint. The fact they started making heaters years ago made me confident and the 5 year warranty did the same. Best in aquarium industry I believe. As others mentioned it was a process to get the temp set up and connect to phone but I found it easy...less than 5 minutes. After purchasing a 300watt unit I then realized sicce made a set and forget unit at 77 at a lower price. I love them even more! I like my 350 reef at 78 and with the other titanium units the inkbird reads constant 77.7 I've already purchased 4....now all this to say...it's still newer to the market so time will tell
This is not a WIFI or a Bluetooth device, you must pull the device completely out of the water and touch it with your phone to adjust the temperature multiple times until you get the reading you want. Temp settings are in Celsius so then you have use a separate phone/laptop etc. to calculate the temp up or down depending on your desired tank temp. The unit I received runs a little high i.e. I have it set at 26 degrees Celsius to achieve 78 Fahrenheit, however the 2 probes at either side of the tank are reading 79.4!!! Happy never ending adjusting!
These heaters are horrible! The temperature cannot stay at 78 degrees! They always get below at 76 degrees. Whenever you try to adjust the temperature it does not change it is constantly stuck at 76 degrees. The one star is customer service. I do not recommend this product.
I have a 265 reef, currently using two 300 w eheim. Getting old, I have had them at least 5 years maybe longer. I thought I would replace ONE of them with a 400w sicce heater. To set the temp just set temp before plugging it in and putting it in the tank. Once set to the temp put it inside a smaller container (making sure you get the proper temp) One 400w sicce doesn’t out perform a 300w eheim.
I bought 2 of the 100w heaters for my tank, total water capacity of 39 gallons. The NFC function was a little gimmicky (look! we've got app control! it's just not WiFi or Bluetooth) but it allowed setting temp without a knob to seal I guess. My issue, like another reviewer explained, is the tank wouldn't get above 74F, even with the room at 68F. The heaters cycle on and off even when WELL below set temp. At night the tank temp would drop, as my house got as low as 60 overnight. The 5 year warranty is nice. Since they're technically not broken I guess I have really oversized QT heaters now.
Unfortunately I can only give this heater 2 stars and the 2 stars are for sicce phenomenal customer support in trying to resolve the problems I have had with these heaters. The heater design has the heater cycling on and off regardless of wether target temp is reached, heater stays on for 1 min 40 secs then goes of for a couple of mins before turning back on,this prevented a 300 watt heater keeping 80 gallons net volume at 78 in a room of ambient temp 71. Sicce sent me replacement heaters but the issue could not be resolved ,in my opinion due to the fact the heater is not constantly on when required.Wanted to love the heater but it's simply doesn't perform it's function.
The whole idea of having control with your phone is a great one, it’s the implementation that is annoying. So you need to have the top of your phone right up against the top of the heater for it to communicate. The issue is, at least for me the heater is submerged and I need to dig it out a bit, then move stuff before doing adjustments. Luckily these things don’t happen often, and the heater is well built, so it’s more of an annoyance than anything. It’s just something to keep in mind if your setup doesn’t allow for easy access.
I have been using various products from the over the years the one or two times I called for warranty support no questions asked send me a new product after verification it was defective. Heater took me literally 2 minutes to set up and seems built extremely well as for longevity if it’s anything like there other products it will be along time before I need to replace it . I plan to do a follow up review in the future. I would highly recommend mainly because I trust this brand and the quality
Operates exactly as advertised. Always nervous introducing new brand of heaters to my aquariums, but Sicce's 5 year warranty plus NFC sold me. Happy to report super successful experience so far. Hit the temp a little longer than I thought it would but Sicce says that's to protect fish and corals from temp changes too quickly. Great job Sicce!
I absolutely love this thing. My tank is a Red Sea max nano, so I’m dealing with a relatively small rear filtration compartment, and my heater pretty much has to be buried at the bottom in order to fit all my equipment back there, so I used to have to pull everything out to adjust my heater as needed, but now I have a heater which I can adjust (to a much finer setting than my previous heater) and calibrate (which I couldn’t do at all on the old heater), all without even getting wet! And of course, it’s Sicce, so you know you can trust it. Definitely one of the better purchases I’ve made for my tank.
I bought the 300 for my 75 gal WB aquarium. App download fast, only complaint is temperature in the app set to Celsius, but was simple to switch it to Fahrenheit. Took a long time to get to 79 degrees, but was told that is to protect my fish as other heaters raise so much faster.
The heater is great and is easy however I thought you could monitor temp via the control app. That was my bad. I do monitor my water temp from a thermometer anyway. Couldn't beat the price and shipping from BRS.
Bought 2 of them. 1 for my 15 gallon frag tank and the other for my 100 gallon mixed reef tank. The 15 gallon scans through the glass, the 100 gallon doesn't oh well. Set up was easy and I calibrated it to my apex. Love the sturdiness of the heater.
