I give it no stars temp was reading 74 degree and it was actually 95 degree I lost everything for this peace of beep I do not recommend it
Bought 3. All 3 failed within the first year. Temp is 78, one reads 35, another reads 102. Power button does not work at all. Absolute garbage. Do not buy
They break quickly, last one I ordered didn't work on arrival (battery couldn't properly stay in place). Get yourself a $25 IR temp gun that never has to get wet. Lasts forever. Should be a backup to your heater controller anyway.
plan on continually buying em...they work but not for very long
For the money this is one of my favorite thermometers. I have quite a few from LaMottes, to Apex Neptune Thermometer, to an OXO one, 2 laser thermometers, and quite a few other random aquarium thermometers I've cached over the years. This one seems to be extremely accurate when compared to the average of all the others.. Its basically right on the money. I trust it. It's cheap. I'd pay 5x more if it had min/max memory and was illuminated.
A good product for its price point. I would compare its reading against a calibrated thermometer. Mine reads about 2.5 degrees less than actual.
For less than 10 bucks, you get a nice little digital thermometer. Seems accurate enough. Small and discrete, yet screen is large enough to read easily.
These thermometers work fine and I've never had any significant issue with accuracy. The main problem is that they always die in about 6-8 months. As long as you're fine with periodic replacement, they're great.
After one week, so far so good. The temperature displayed matches the temperature my Ranco controller is set to.
I can't yet speak to the longevity of this, as it's only been in my tank for a couple weeks now. However, i'm really quite happy with it and would recommend it for an inexpensive digital thermometer that's easy to use and read. For the price, it really can't be beat. If you need something that will hold a +/- 0.5 degree accuracy, this isn't for you, but look at the price and set your expectations to match.
Not bad for the money. Has been working well for me, but had to replace one part of the velcro as the adhesive was not very good and started falling off the tank. I clean all the surfaces with isopropyl alcohol before attaching so pretty certain I got a bad piece. I really like they included suction cup mount as well for both probe a display. I primarily use this one for getting the temp correct on my freshwater tank when doing water change and I can stick the probe in the gravel cleaning portion and monitor the fill water temp. The only other thing I don't like is the update of temp is not immediate and only updates every few seconds. This is not a problem if you are monitoring a system that is not prone to any rapid change like mixing saltwater or temp in the aquarium. Overall I'm happy with this unit.
This works fine out of the box, but after a short time (2 weeks in my most recent case) it is no longer accurate. It was reading 86 F, when an accurate thermometer showed the water was at 78 F. It's not great that rather than just failing, it shows an inaccurate temperature.
I have 8 of these now and they all still work. Some of these are off a degree or two so be sure to check it against a known accurate thermometer first and just keep in mind if it reads a little high or low....These seem to work as well as others I have paid 3 x the price for and the battery life on these are a lot better.
Thermometer is quick and accurate, but cheaply made. Works fine when installed and a bit careful -- but of you push too quickly or hardly it flakes out and resets.
A little lacking on the quality. I wish the temp was illuminated as I have o get a light to see it at night. That said it seems to be very accurate and does what it's meant to do. It's 11.00 you get what you pay for
Works very well, and gives you the option for C or F. Only thing i might ask for its for it to have a back light.
Easy to install, everyday when I check it, I get an accurate reading. Very affordable and small display for limited space in the sump area. 2 thumbs up!!
Simple and straight forward product works right out of the box. Only had in my tank for about a week but seems to be doing exactly as advertised. Great to check that temps are the same on the opposite site of your tank from your heater. The suction cups used internally and externally seem to be the best ever. Very low profile on the outside of my tank
Digital thermometer on the cheap that is accurate enough for what I need it to be. This is better than using glass stick thermometers.
Great price for digital thermometer. Better than the glass alternatives. Cheaper than all other digital thermometers I have found. Accurate enough for my needs.
This thermometer works perfectly. I have only had it a few weeks and really like it so far. It's easy to read and at least in this initial stage it works like a charm.
I've owned this thermometer for about a year and in the last 6 months the screen constantly flickers on and off. When it comes back on the temperature usually changes by over 5 degrees. I doubt the temperature fluctuated that much in a few minutes. It never seems to stabilize back out either but stays stuck either really high or really low.
This is a great and simple unit that takes seconds to set up and allows you to verify your temp at a glance.
Good product very handy and accurate.
works great. accurate temps. so far so good...several months now.
Put the battery in and put it in the water and worked perfectly
Purchased this to use for water changes and as a main thermometer in my tank. (The long cord makes it super easy to move from my tank to the new water.) It matched up with my old thermometer's read out so I trust that it is right. It's nice to have big numbers that are easy to read. As someone else mentioned a backlight feature that could be turned on or off would be nice.
I had a rash of bad heaters and needed a second probe too confirm accuracy and steady temp. Works perfect.
I wanted a digital thermometer with a nice sized LCD display so that I could quickly glance over and see the temperature, and this works nicely.
My thermometer consistently reads 4 degrees higher than my actual water temp. My heaters are set to 78 degrees and I've verified that other thermometers read the temperature at 78. However this JBJ thermometer reads at 82.1.
this is a great little thermometer, great price, seems to be accurate. sure beats the stick on the glass thermometer i have been using!!!!
I think I have been through 5 of these within a few years. I have one that does not work anymore and 2 that are about 10 degrees off. It seems to lose its calibration and there is no way to reset them. I think I will try another brand for my next thermometer. It was great when it work correctly and a good price. I just wish the usable life lasted a little longer.
Works great and expect to buy a few more.
i use two of these on my tank and they are always within .2 points of each other. have had the batteries in it that it came with for 10 months, recommend this to everyone.
good product--They should charge more--But don't tell them--LOL
Great peace of mind for only 10$. This is a great way to double check those sometime troublesome heaters.
I primarily use this to monitor the temperature in my 90 gallon display tank to make sure that my lights aren't heating up the water too much. It works very well, and for the price I don't think you can beat it. I also pull it out of the DT and use it to check the temperature of my replacement water when doing water changes. It has a great double suction cup mount that allows you to quickly and easily detach the digital readout. I like that a lot because I have it mounted to the back of my tank glass so it's out of sight but I can still detach it and read it with no problem. If you don't have a thermometer yet for your tank, do yourself a favor and pick one of these up.
I keep one of these in my sump as a check against my controller temp sensors, and have another for mixing water. I'm ordering a third for my QT. Would only be better with a backlight.
I bought two of these (one for my sump and one for my saltwater mixing bin). I like the fact the cord from the probe to the display unit is long enough for me to put it wherever I want. No complaints.
I use this probe to make sure the temperature in my tank is correct and steady. This is by far the simplest way to tell temperature
I use this on my 125 gallon reef to make sure its at the temp it should be. I use a glass thermometer also and they are exactly the same temp. Its easy to put the prob in the sump and put the display on the side of the tank for easy reading.
