Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 15, 2026

The short version. Saltwater Deals has no accounts and no logins, serves no advertising, and sells nothing to anyone. We measure page views with Google Analytics, our hosts keep ordinary server logs, and if you sign up for a price alert or send us a message we keep what you gave us. That is all of it.

Who runs this site

Saltwater Deals (saltwaterdeals.com) is operated by Freedom Games LLC (indie.io), as part of the HobbyistDeals network of price-comparison sites, which includes saltwaterdeals.com and hobbyistdeals.com. Questions and removal requests go through the contact form.

What we collect

  • Page views, referrer, approximate region, device and browser type — to see which pages are used and which are broken. Sent to Google Analytics 4.
  • Standard server logs, including IP address and user agent — to deliver pages and block abuse. Held by Cloudflare and our hosting provider.
  • Your email address, if you set a price alert — used only to send the alerts you asked for. Stored in our database and sent through our email delivery provider.
  • Anything you type into the contact form, including an email address if you choose to give one — so we can act on it and reply. Stored on our own server and forwarded to our team's internal messaging.

We do not ask for your name, postal address or payment details anywhere on this site. Purchases happen on the retailer's site, under the retailer's own privacy policy.

Cookies and local storage

  • Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits and tell a returning visitor from a new one.
  • Your browser's local storage holds small preferences, such as light or dark theme. That never leaves your device.
  • Retailers may set their own cookies when you follow a link to their site, including affiliate tracking cookies (see below).

Affiliate links

Links to retailers are plain links today: they carry no affiliate or tracking parameter and we are not paid by the retailers. The retailer may set its own cookies once you are on its site. If we ever add affiliate links, this page and the note on each page will say so before any such link goes live; it would not change the price you pay or decide which prices we show.

Advertising

Saltwater Deals currently serves no advertising and runs no advertising trackers. If that changes, this page will be updated before any ads appear.

Who we share it with

Nobody, other than the services that make the site work: Google Analytics for measurement, Cloudflare and our hosting provider for delivery, an email delivery provider for price alerts, and our internal messaging tool for contact-form messages. We do not sell or rent data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Your choices

  • Stop price alerts at any time with the unsubscribe link in any alert email.
  • Ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, through the contact form.
  • Opt out of analytics with any content blocker or Google's opt-out add-on.
  • If you are in the EU, UK or California you have rights of access, correction and deletion under the GDPR or CCPA. Use the same form and we will action it.

Retention

Analytics data follows Google Analytics' retention settings. Price-alert email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact messages are kept for as long as we need them to deal with the request.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Where data is held

Our servers are in the United States, and Cloudflare serves pages from locations worldwide. If you contact us from outside the United States, your message is stored in the United States.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
