Nyos PURE is a high-purity, pharmaceutical-grade synthetic salt mix formulated specifically for the discerning reef aquarist. It is designed to create a stable, near-natural seawater environment that promotes enhanced coral color, growth, and polyp expansion. Developed through extensive testing and ICP-controlled quality assurance, this salt mix provides a trustworthy and consistent foundation for a thriving saltwater aquarium, ensuring your delicate inhabitants receive the best possible water chemistry from the start.
The key to PURE Salt Mix is its exceptional quality ingredients and manufacturing process. The sodium chloride undergoes a multi-step cleaning process, making it significantly purer than salts derived from simple evaporation, while high-grade calcium and magnesium compounds ensure ultra-low concentrations of unwanted substances. This purity prevents any yellow tinge in the water or insoluble particles, keeping mixing containers clean. Thanks to a specialized mixing process and fine particle size, the salt dissolves completely in about five minutes at room temperature and is ready for immediate use without any maturation period.
This salt mix is ideal for reef hobbyists who prioritize stability, clarity, and rapid preparation for water changes. It is particularly beneficial for aquarists keeping sensitive corals, such as SPS, who require consistent and precise mineral levels without organic contaminants. If you are looking for a salt that eliminates residue, mixes quickly, and delivers reliable, homogenous parameters from the first scoop to the last, Nyos PURE is the perfect choice for maintaining a pristine and healthy reef ecosystem.

I bought and tried the nyos sea salt , and it even smells clean , mixes up clear and you can use it right away. I can honestly say i tried red sea, instant ocean, reef crystals, continuum, but this salt is hands down the ultimate sea salt i have tried! Five Star Salt.
Update to my previous review. I have been using this salt for almost 2 years. I typically do not store saltwater but have been keeping a bucket on hand for small water changes. After 7 days there is brown residue in the bucket. I have not noticed this before so maybe it is just this bucket. I have been happy with this salt until now.
Mixes fast, clear, and doesnt leave a residue like many other salts. Test numbers on the bag are always accurate. I've used many salts, and this is by far my favorite.
I purchased the nyos box for $49 . And trust and believe this Salt was by far the cleanest slt I ever used ,and I tried all of them. I can't get over how you can add the mixture to the tank right away! In my opinion Nyos tops them all!!
Mixes very well and clear. Has the appropriate Alk, Ca, MG and I don't need to mix the salt in the bucket.
Mixes quick and clean. Good parameters. Seems like it is never in stock when I need to order more.
Just Mixed up another 105 Gallons with a new bag. Alk matched the ICP, but Ca and Mg were both lower than ICP results using salifert test kits. ~380 Ca (vs 420 ICP) and 1275 Mg (vs 1320). Mixed very clean and fast. Mixed to 1.026/35 PPT.
I am trying this over Tropic Marin Pro Salt. I've only mixed up two batches so far, Alk 8.1-8.2, Ca around ~420, but Mg has been low on both batches 1240 and 1200. I am mixing it to 1.026 salinity. Mixes fast and as clean as Tropic Marin pro. I will continue to try it for a couple more buckets and see how the next few batches come out. If the Mg was above 1300, i'd probably give it 5 stars.
This is the best salt I have ever used. It mixes immediately and the ratios are on point every-time.
I switched to this for a few reasons, 1, the claim that its the same ratios from top to bottom (or very close), and after 3 batches i can agree. 2, is because the reef crystals left a nasty sludge i had to clean every other mixing session. This salt is so clean, and mixes fast 3, because reef crystals was so high in elements, if i ever needed to do a large emergency water change, it would throw my parameters out of whack, this is close enough to what i run, i feel confident that i can change large volumes with little swings in the majors
I usually don't leave reviews yet this salt generated a lot of issues in my reef. The moment I changed salts everything started to stabilize. Alk, mag, and calcium are not what is specified.
Have used this for a while. First two buckets no issue at all. Recently though I thought I got a bad batch so I threw it out and ordered another but it was bad as well. Calcium was off the charts and alkalinity was coming in at 5 dkh a few hours after mixing. Mixed clear with no precipitation but everything was out of whack. Just threw out the last batch I ordered and will give caution to anyone buying this stuff.
Was using Aquaforest Reef Salt & decided to give this brand a try. No regrets. The salt mixed fast & my corals love it.
Great clean mixing salt. Parameters are consistent and coral health is great! Mixes within 15-20 mins and is ready to use. Will be my go to salt from now on
I have been using this for a while now. Tested batches come back test kit error close to the ICP results on the bag. I had a phosphate issue and went through my source water testing. My freshly mixed saltwater came back zero on a Hanna ultra-low phosphate checker, so I did not go back and check my RO water, just added GFO.
I mixed my first 5 gallon bucket using this salt and honestly was amazed how quickly the cloudiness in the water dissipated. The water was clear in in 1-2 minutes. I plan to send an ICP test (free gift, thanks BRS) in a month to see how it affects my water parameters. So far I really like this salt and plan to it order again.
While its mixes pretty quickly, I came across a problem. Ive been having a little problem with algae and started a phos reactor. After a water change with absolute zero tds my tank had higher phosphates. I measured a batch of freshly mixed PURE and the phos reads .09. I figured error so mixed another 10 gallons fresh and .08 phos? Urge others to test im going to stop using it.
Nyos hit a home run with this one. I have tried nearly every salt out there, with Brightwells BM being the most recent, and I put this one above all of them without question. It’s the fastest and clearest mixing salt I’ve ever used with literally zero residue left in mixing bins or pumps. 5-10 minutes in room temp. RODI water and it’s crystal clear, and according to Nyos, ready to use. I mix my batches and store them for a little while, which Nyos also says you can store it mixed long term without issue. The extra $ for the bucket is also worth it as it’s the easiest bucket to open and close I’ve used. Who doesn’t need just one more bucket in this hobby? Each bucket has batch #, KH, Ca, Mg & K content as well as a QR code for complete info on each Triton batch control ICP analysis! The ranges fit my current system so I will continue to use this salt as long as it’s available. If these numbers fit your existing or future system or you’re looking to make a change and demand assurance of what you are buying……. LOOK NO FURTHER!
I am a long time user of Red Sea Blue Bucket and Corla Pro. Those are both excellent salts and the Nyos Pure intrigued me when I first read about the pharmaceutical quality. I have a full Acropora system that demands the best water quality. The first thing you'll notice is the crystal white purity of the salt. Rarely will you open a bucket of salt and not see some little piece of debris. Nyos Pure was 100% clean all throughout upon inspection. The second thing you'll notice is how quickly your mix water turns clear after adding the salt. Within two minutes, the water looks just like it did before the salt. The mixing container has no residue when you're finished. I never had residue with Red Sea, but I always had what I would call left over salt that needed to be washed out. Not with Nyos Pure, the container is spotless. This is not a long term review, but I've used the salt now for a little over a month of weekly 30% water chabges. I can say that you will have zero addition to phosphates from this salt. I always kept my phosphates very low, but now it has dropped even lower. I believe before I was getting a small amount from Red Sea. If you're running a ULN environment and want to keep your parameters the same between water changes, this is your salt. This will be my salt choice as long as I can get it and hopefully BRS will stock it for a long time to come.
This review is about things not listed. The salt works as described, and stores well in my mixing container. pH measures 8.27 on average for my last batch. The Bucket has a lid that is super easy to get on and off, so you can say goodbye to sore fingers from lids with this salt. I highly recommend it.
I have only been in the hobby for five years and have only used Instant Ocean because that is the only brand my LFS carries. I purchased Nyos for its claim of mixing in just five minutes. Mixed a batch in my quarantine tank to test their claim and I am truly impressed. Within about two minutes of adding salt to the water it was practically clear. My new go to for salt. Thank you BRS!
Made the switch on a whim. No regrets. Best mixing salt and my corals love it.
Was super happy to see someone finally be transparent about their salt mix to the point they have Trident systems test their batches... And I tested everything I can with Hannah checkers and a Red Sea test kit. Everything is close enough to what the ICP analysis says that I can trust it. Have mixed 80 gallons worth in 10 gallon segments to test batch to batch. And nothing abnormal has come up between the batches. Cannot be more stoked about how consistent this salt mix is and how Transparent Nyos is about it. Tropic Marin pro reef has been great... But the half bucket I have left will be going to a friend.
Have used a few different salts, TM pro/ Red Sea blue/Aquaforest hybrid salt and …… BUT this salt is at the top of my list. I ordered one bucket To testing and see the result…..thanks to Nyos for this high quality salt and Thanks again BRS for the great customer service and brought this salt to US Market! Definitely be ordering again.
