Mixes fast, clean, and clear!! The batch/lot number really helps with knowing exactly what you’re getting from this salt!! Since my batch came in at 7.8 Alk and I like to run mine around 9.0 I add just a little extra using the BRS calculators!! Overall best salt I’ve used so far!!
Mixes fast and clean. Very good results in mixed reef. Highly recommend this salt mix.
This salt is great corals love it and it dissolves fast in 15 min and its ready to use it also has amino acids I highly recommend this salt better than io i was using!
I have been using this salt as it came with my initial Hello Reef kit. I bought the big bucket at a great price on here. Will begin using in my big tank soon.
I have had good results with a mixed reef tank.
I used this salt for about the last two years. I can say this last box I purchased is wildly under performing. It doesnt mix at the the right ALK/CAL for the 1.026 batch I mix. I dose with Red Sea Pro A and Pro B and I have had to dose more to adjust. I didn't notice until my hellfire torch died. I purchased Red Sea salt to switch to. Hopefully its better than this box I got.
This salt mixed fairly quickly and clean for me. So far about 15 gallons in transitioning from another band. Tank has not skipped a beat.
Salt mixed up well but doesn’t make as much as advertised
I've bought a couple more batches since my last review and it's been consistent. I think it was just a bad batch. There is a Batch number that can be found on the bag to get a sense of what parameters will be, which I think it's nice to have. Overall a great salt to use.
The first batch I bought worked so well. Dkh came around 8.4 and with regular dosing getting to 9 was easy. Mag about 1350 and Calcium around 440. First batch lasted about 2 in a half months. I needed more for regular water changes and the second batch that came in keeps giving me a dKH of 5.2-5.6 with 1.025-1.026 in salinity. When it works the way it’s suppose to, my corals end up doing well, but this is a concern as I’m trying to find a stable salt for continued use. Hoping this was just a bad batch otherwise this just isn’t a reliable salt.
I have tried multiple salt brands and I keep coming back to this one for a reason. It mixes up fast, reliable parameters from batch to batch, and best of all my corals love it.
I do not usually post reviews, but this stuff is crazy white, clean and fine. Dissolves really fast. I used alot of other brands through my many years of reefing and no more brown mysterious coatings in my tank.
I've been a coral pro fan boy for years but recently had a couple of batches that weren't quite clean left residue in my mixing buckets. Switched to reef salt and haven't looked back. Corals are equally as happy and my Dino problem has subsided.
Been using this salt for about 6 months, 1st 3 bags were great. Mixed up nice, no precipitate whatsoever params spot on to what they say. 4th bag has been a complete dissapointment, crazy amount of precipitate, levels are 1dkh low, PH is 7
I have been using Reef Crystals for 15 years and decided to try something new. Everything is responding positively so far after using this salt. The corals open nicer and colors are popping. The price is better than Tropic Marin, in my opinion that salt is way overpriced.
I highly recommend this salt. Like the bag says 15 min ready to use and keep the water clear. Make sure you have the temperature of the water at 75-78.
Purchased this salt to try and get something a little better. Worst salt ive ever bought or tried. First off it's a pain to mix since it is in liters. The salt mixes nicely and quickly but it's mix levels are horrible. Alkalinity tested at 5.6. Very disappointed.
Mixes up with no insoluble debris and exactly at the parameters based on batch number and corresponding icp test. (Check the manufacturer's website.) I did not need as much salt as directed per the instructions to reach 35 ppt salinity. Apart from that, great for me being very new to this.
I switched to Aquaforest from Fritz RPM after repeated delivery issues from another site. I was very happy with the salt. I even think switching salt helped me finally eliminate the dinos in my tank. It's too bad the 200 gallon bag is such a nightmare to use. The ziplock is almost impossible to seal correctly. I'm not willing to pay $10 more to get the same amount of salt in a box, so I'll likely switch back to the Fritz salt.
I was stuck on tropic Marin salts forever… the past 6 months I haven’t been happy about it. I go through a 200 gallon salt bucket each month on my mega reef system. Lately the tropic Marin was mixing like a cheap salt… leaving my mixing bin dirty with brown floating debris and the parameters lost their consistency. I tried the aqua forest based on the video from their website. It shows the lab it’s made in. It’s so clean, so sterile. And they put the icp on the bag as evidence of quality. I was so impressed with the first batch I mixed I’ve been using it ever since and don’t plan to ever go back. Clean, stable, easy mixing, fast clarity, no dirty floating crap…. Just perfect.
Moved to this salt after using Tropic Marin Pro and Red Sea Blue previously. The lower price and high magnesium drew me in. Great product so far, worth noting a 200g bag gets roughly 165g at 1.0264 salinity (414g per 2.7L)
This salt dissolves really fast. Nice to have this available for when you need to make saltwater in case of emergencies.
I recently ordered 4, 200g bags and all 4 bags arrived with damaged seals from the manufacturer. The bags have a nice built in resealable ziplock bag style seal. Unfortunately every bag had a 1/2in tear underneath and salt spilling out. I think the odds of contamination is probably low but it’s not zero. I’ll probably still use the salt but I’ll run it through a sediment filter before I use it.
Mixes much faster then other brands I've used, and I like that you can see test results of every batch produced
Was using IO Reef Crystals for years and decided to try something new. Everything is responding positively so far after using a 50 gallon bag, so I just ordered a 200 gallon bag!
After years of trying different salts, I think I finally found my forever salt. It mixes very cleanly, has great parameters, and is priced right. My tanks have also responded well to it. If I were to nit-pick, it would be the smell due to the added vitamins. Although not a horrible smell, it reminds me of Reef Crystals. Ironic, I buy the 200g bag and store it in a Reef Crystals bucket, haha.
My corals seem to really dig this mix. So much happier than when I used Reef Crystals. I do a 10% water change in my 60 gallon reef and the corals seem much livelier. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a (good) change.
This stuff mixes cleanly within fifteen minutes. The ability to check the parameters of each batch is terrific Highly recommended!
By far the cleanest salt that I've used so far. You can expect parameters to be in line with what is advertised. Thank you BRS for selling this product!!
Attention to detail by Aquaforest Brand is something to appreciate in their products. Salt mixes within 15 minutes, no residue in my mixing container. You can check ICP test of each batch on Aquaforest website. Salt has also got ideal parameters for my style of reefing, Ca, dKH, Mg, pH are just right for even your most demanding corals. Especially dKH, which is around 8, where most of us would like it to be.
AMAZING SALT , corals swell up! Can’t believe Brs finally started selling this salt again after so dang long I’m so so happy……
Amazing salt switched from tm pro , and corals are so happy and plump after water change it’s amazing
You can look up the mineral test for each batch of salt you purchase directly on the bag, search for the code online. Overall I love how quickly it mixed, compared to my old standard HW marine this is my new staple salt, so reliable! I will be honest it’s a little dustier then I would like when handled.. Overall Great for going towards a more “Natural seawater concentration”.
Switched from TM Pro Reef (once it sold out and was hard to get) and have been using this salt ever since. Mixes very clear, quickly, and has the parameters I like my tank to be at. On top of all that, Each box comes with batch numbers where you can simply go on and check the exact paramiters that batch ICP tested at.
