I’m new to the hobby. The directions are simple to follow. The color matching is quite simple with the view from above approach. The only thing you should be aware of, the ammonia test only goes up to 2 ppm. If you are cycling your tank for the first time, this may not be adequate.

Nothing but good things to say about this test kit. Beginner-friendly, high-quality materials, straightforward instructions, and no issues with accuracy/results. Reading the color scales aren't difficult, just make sure you're looking at them underneath a bright light. What I really love about RedSea is their deliverance of information. Definitely a top-tier brand.

I've been using API test kits for awhile and wanted something a little more accurate so I ordered this kit. I had been reading approx 0 nitrates using my API test kit but when I ran the nitrate test from this kit it turned a hot pink color which was not even close to any colors on the comparison chart. Even though the color didn't match, the darkness of the pink resembled a value over 50ppm of nitrates. At first I thought I messed up the test so I ran it 3 more times including a diluted test and all had the same results. Thinking my API kit was just bad I quickly did a large water change and ran the test again with no change. I then ordered a NYOS Nitrate test and just ran it today and surprise surprise it read approx 0 nitrates. I also took a sample to my LFS and they confirmed my tank was 0 nitrates. While the test kit sucked, Bulk Reef Supply however was fantastic as usual and refunded me for this kit and I am very happy with the NYOS kit I got instead which is easier to use and read and doesn't give erratic results.

Some of the test are legitimate, however the results in alkalinity are not accurate due to titration...

Great test kits and much better to buy the all in one kits versus individually. Way less cluter. Just remember, these kits only last about a year before fluids go bad.

The pink on the result did not match any on the color card, yet BRS states the nitrates are super high. All my corals are doing fine, just thought I would try a test that Is known to be one of the better products. Not if the results cant be read.

This kit has a regular nitrate test with an accuracy of 2ppm but their pro nitrate test has an accuracy of 0.125ppm. This kit has a hardness test but their RCP kit has one too. I would get this kit only for NH3/NO2/pH, the RCP for Ca/KH/Mg, and the Algae Control for NO3/PO4.

I like the glass vials and case. like most color test kits, it is sometimes hard to decipher the solution color against the results color card.

Used this and got way different results from my LFS. Still showing nitrates when others didnt detect any. So i will be trying something different

Having so many test kit manufacturers is really hard to decide which one to go with, this one is really easy to use, very detailed instructions and better color guidance than other kits. Gave 4 starts just because its a little bit pricey

Probably the best value on a test kit that you will find as it provides accurate tests for an affordable price.

I've been keeping saltwater and reef tanks for 18 years and then n those years I've used many different brands of test kits and these by far have been the BEST in my opinion and most accurate. They've also improved a lot in the last few years.

A must have test kit for a reef tank!

started off with an API test kit, wasn't the greatest at giving accurate colors so before putting fish in my tank I bought this and a reef foundations test kit and results are very easy to read. case could be a little better built so that all the bottles actually fit but that doesn't effect the function of the test kit itself

Great test kit. Easy to follow instructions, but takes a little bit of time to be able to read the colors of the test. But I have seen a lot harder test to be able to read.

Having no experience with test kits, I bought this kit due to the reputation of the manufacturer. The test seem easy enough to perform, but there does seem to be some room for interpretation of the colors provided. Sometimes hard to match colors and in those cases, you are supposed to interpolate. Not sure how significant that is in the big picture, but otherwise, nice test kit. The case is nice, but not all bottles fit into a space. Feels a little cheap for how much Red Sea has invested in the science.

Easy to follow instruction and price point is excellent. Added bonus is that Red Sea offers how to videos on their website. Making it even harder to get it wrong.

Let's start with a basic biological fact. Compared to women, all men are colorblind. If you are color blind compared to other men, test kits are a challenge. I had been using salifert, and just wanted to beat my head on the table. While still a challenge, the Red Sea system of placing the vial on the card and comparing has gotten me far better results.

This kit has more steps than others. I purchased for the reputation of Red Sea and knowing its accurate enough for starting a new tank. My two gripes are that the kit is a little more complicated to use compared to others. Also even though the dtorage box is made to nicely hold the contents, the KH bottle doesn't actually fit in any slot.

This is a very easy to use test kit and I find it accurate. The Ammonia, Nitrate and Nitrite tests are good although I find the Nitrite a little hard to read the color match. The pH test is also a little hard to match the color. The Alkalinity test works, but it is a very rough test result (1 dKH intervals). I am being very demanding though because I use other forms of testing which have higher precision. For the money, can beat the ease of use and accuracy. I would recommend and buy again myself.

Of course many have their preferred test kits. Mine is Red Sea and I found the Marine Care Test Kit cheapest here compared to all other reputable websites.

everyone recommends this. i'm happy with it too. gives you piece of mind that it is quality, plus it has a pretty good all in one tester box so you don't have to spend tons extra on individual testers. all for a very reasonable price. excited about setting up the new reef!

Been using the API kits forever but feel the results are inconsistent. I was looking for another affordable kit and landed on watching the BRS video from MACNA convention and listened to the Red Sea rep. Thought I'd give it a try. There is more mixing and it takes a little longer, but I really feel the results are more accurate. The directions are very clear so it really is no problem. A good deal and worth it.

I also have the API test kit for pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. Compared to this test kit, the API one is a breeze. There are multiple steps involved and all of them need at least 10 seconds of shaking between steps. The colors also take a while to stabilize. The price of the two test kits are about the same. Both are fairly accurate with slight differences in the results. I personally don't mind the steps. Overall, if you don't mind the multiple steps, this is a great test kit.

Always enjoyed using red sea test kits as I found these to be the most accurate. Way better than some of the other kits on the market.

This is the best colormetric test kit on the market. I started out using API test kits, and after running a battery of tests with my new Red Sea kit I will never use another "paper-box" test kit again!! Before using my Red Sea test kit, my API test kit read 0- nitrate, testing with my new test kit right after revealed that my nitrates were 25ppm!!! Do yourself a favor and get this kit if you can't afford buying the Hanna checkers. You won't have to deal with soggy boxes and instructions, and the test vials are built better so you won't have to worry about hazardous chemicals spilling on you or the floor.
