After a lot of research, I decided to go with this salt, it mixes well and parameters are right on target. I say maybe tropic marine because of shipping. I received a unlabeled plastic bag of salt in a brown unlabeled box. I guess I will have to trust BRS is packing and sending the right salt. Fingers crossed.... but everything is looking good so far. Thanks, Andrew, for helping me out with that order.
I briefly was using instant ocean for qt but that stuff is junk. All kinds of tan stringy floating crap. Wouldnt clear up after 48 hours. Had to filter before I used it in qt. As the saying goes" you get what you pay for". I mixed up a box of the classic and within 30 mins it was clear and ready to use. Its not cheap but its constant. Very pleased so far...
Mixes up well. I do not get any brown residue in buckets. matches the parameters. Salinity stays the same after 2 weeks. Have been using for 1 year now
I switched from TM Pro Reef to this Classic because the ALK of Pro Reef was so low. My ALK now stays in the 8.5 to 9.5 range. Just wish BRS would put a few turns of packaging tape around the boxes of salt so UPS doesn't destroy them in transit.
I like the allure of TM salts because of the ease of mixing and storage. I started on TM Pro but decided to swith to Classic for the higher Alk. Well, I'm getting brown residue in my white mixing containers after a week. The is all over the sides and bottom. It does rinse away.
Supposed to be high grade but leaves a thick brown residue in my mixing container. Won’t be using it again.
Have been unsinging Instant Ocean for years for years with a slight brown residue at the top but thought i'd try this salt on your recommendation. It mixes fast but after a couple days I have a thick brown residue at the top of the water level. Much more than Instant Ocean. Supposed to be pharmaceutical grade products with no residue but it's very thick at water top. Will not buy this any longer because of poor results! back to instant ocean!
This is my new go-to. It mixes very quickly, and is ready once the water is clear, per the manufacturer. I usually wait 24 hours, just to be sure everything is stable, but it's great to know that it's ready without the wait, in case I run a little short and need to mix up a bit more.
I was using a different salt for when I first set up my tank. This one mixes so much faster and doesn't leave any kind of silt or residue in the mixing bucket. I don't have coral yet but this salt has less if no silicates.
