Sweetwater SWX Bio Media BF150B is a high-performance biofilm carrier element crafted from 100% virgin high-density polyethylene, specifically engineered for successful biofiltration in moving bed reactor systems. This advanced filter media provides an ideal surface for beneficial bacteria to colonize, playing a crucial role in the nitrification process by efficiently converting harmful ammonia into nitrite and ultimately into less toxic nitrate, maintaining pristine water quality in saltwater aquariums.

Each BF150B element boasts an impressive surface area of 274 ft2/ft3, with a precise geometric design measuring 7/16" in diameter and 9/32" in length, optimizing bacterial growth. Its positively buoyant characteristic ensures continuous movement within a bio-filtration tank when paired with an air pump or blower. This constant circulation exfoliates older, less active bacterial layers, effectively making the bio media self-cleaning and eliminating the need for routine backwashing, offering a low-maintenance solution for robust biological filtration. This product is supplied in a one cubic meter, pallet-sized bulk bag.

This Sweetwater SWX Bio Media is an excellent choice for large-scale reef aquarium enthusiasts, commercial aquaculture operations, or any setup requiring highly efficient and reliable biological filtration through Moving Bed Biofilm Reactors (MBBR). Its exceptional surface area for bacteria, self-cleaning mechanism, and durable virgin HDPE construction provide a superior and cost-effective solution for maintaining optimal water parameters, ensuring the health and vitality of aquatic life with minimal intervention.
