The SpectraPure SilicaBuster Color-Indicating High-Capacity Shell 10" SuperDI Cartridge is an advanced deionization filter designed for saltwater reef aquariums. This specialized cartridge produces exceptionally pure water, achieving 18 meg ohm-cm resistivity, making it ideal for sensitive reef environments. It excels at removing troublesome contaminants like silica, nitrates, phosphates, and heavy metals, reducing them to ultra-low parts per billion levels. This SuperDI cartridge boasts 33% more capacity than standard SilicaBuster DI cartridges, offering extended life and enhanced contaminant removal. Its unique color-indicating resin changes as capacity is used, providing a visual cue for when replacement is needed. Fabricated with semiconductor-grade resins, it ensures the highest possible purity and is optimized for use post-RO or post-distillation. The cartridge measures 2.5" x 10" and comes in aluminized mylar packaging to prevent resin degradation before use. This product is essential for serious reef aquarists who demand the absolute highest quality water for their systems. It is particularly beneficial for those experiencing issues with algae or cyanobacteria caused by elevated silica, nitrate, or phosphate levels in their source water. While offering superior performance, users should note that cartridge life can be significantly impacted by low pH or high carbon dioxide levels in the RO product water, making aeration or de-gasification beneficial for such conditions.
