In the hobby for 50 years. With age, buckets no fun. I previously owned larger tanks but have streamlined down to just a 55 gallon reef with 30 gallon sump. I heavily feed fish so 25 gallon weekly change and once a month 40 gallon Change. I mix salt the night before in a brute can. I now use the sicce ultra zero to pump water from my brute with mixed salt after draining 25 gallons from the tank in another brute container. I pump the dirty water in the brute can to a nearby shower drain. The sump pump used for moving all the water though 50 ft python hose. Love the direct ght(garden house) attachment. Quiet pump which handles head pressure no problem. Simple to clean. Nice smooth design. 30 minutes vs 1.5 hours.
The pump works great. I use it to transfer waste water during water changes. I attached a standard outdoor hose to the outlet and the other end goes to my utility sink. It drains 25 gallons in no time. I was disappointed when after a month it mostly stopped working. It turns out the impeller failed but Sicce tech support was incredibly responsive and sent me a replacement quickly. Many products have some infant failures. A great company stands behind their products. It has worked perfectly since replacing the impeller.
Besides the no hose and attachment included this pump is a great addition to any water change bucket. Works smoothly without problem.
First off as others have mentioned it does not included a way to attach a hose. Pump struggles to prime when sitting in a full 5 gallon bucket, you need to tip it and jiggle to get it to prime, pump is extremely noisy when trying to prime and once running does not move a lot of water compared to its size
Wow, this is well built high performance utility water pump. It has a very strong powerful flow with no hesitation. I love this pump. I used this pump with the Python no spill system, and it is fantastic! No more carrying buckets.
I used this pump for my water changes and topping off my ATO. It's a great pump. It gets the water to the very bottom of the reservoir.
I use it for topping off my ATO's and for doing water changes! Really reliable and I like the handle and how it stays sunk to the bottom in its appropriate position
This Sicce zero utility pump is a game changer!! It has come in handy on multiple emergencies in the 2 weeks I've had it! Great for pushing out water from a clogged sink, water changes made easier and refills my RO buckets without any problems! Where was this 20 years ago? Love this utility pump! Extremely versatile!
Great for water changes but if your trying to move water from a basement, the pump runs very slow.
so I got one of these as I thought they would be the perfect utility pump. BUT NOPE! 1st one just stoped working and would not push water after 1st day of use. got a replacement from Sicce witch was great but I had the tank down new build was going to be a year out did a FW test on the new tank yesterday pupb did not work on 1st try removed the impeller put it back together and it pumped when to empty the tank today and same thing no matter what i do I cant get it to pump water. How disappointing....i'll reach out to Siccee but guessing it's been awhile they prob will not replace it. QC must suck or something. to get 2 that do not work more than a day....
For this money you think they would throw in a 10 cent part so you can attach vinyl hose.
This is my go-to water pump for daily water changes. Never fails and the flow is always consistent. I purchased it for its longevity and quality for years to come.
This pump is fantastic. Absolute must have if you’re a hardcore reefer. The fact that it can attach to an existing Python water changing system hose is a huge bonus. Makes Changing water on your tank very simple.
This pump literally cuts my weekly water change routine time in half. The fact that you can use the python water change hose with it is a huge bonus.
What a great purchase. I do weekly water changes and this pump is by far the easiest and fastest way to replace water in a tank. No more spilling water while pouring in with a bucket. No more lifting heavy buckets to my chest. I just put the pump in the bucket, put the hose in the tank, plug it in and in less than a minute I am done! No spills. No hassles. I love this pump!
Ultra zero by sicce has been life changing for me in terms of water changes, 0 noise while they are working. Requires almost no maintenance. I own 2 of them. One for saltwater, and one for freshwater. During the 2 years of using one i only had to change the shaft after weekly heavy use!. Defiantly worth the money!.
Great for the intended purpose. Use it for tank maintenance to transfer water. Has been reliable for me.
Great pump for all types of water changes especially ones where water changing in a sump is necessary to get detritus buildup out. Also allows for easy pumping of water back into the system from a big brute bin. No need for carrying individual buckets anymore.
These work great for a variety of tasks. From water changes to tank cleaning, to tank transfers they do it all! Always a pain to try to siphon out the bottom of a tank, no need to suck nasty water, use this!
This pump for water changes is a no-brainer. Absolute game changer for maintenance days and for draining my sump to almost completely dry.
I now have 3 of them and they are the best work pumps I have.
Great little pump and will transfer water from my mixing station to my tank about 15 feet away through a hose BUT, it's a fairly slow flow rate. Would've thought it would be a bit more powerful, but gets the job done, albeit slowly.
Don’t know why this gets such great reviews. The pump is weak, extremely loud, and cheap. I bought one, dropped it from a height of 2ft and completely broke it. Sicce gave me a replacement, which was nice of them considering I dropped it. It should break that easily though. I have dropped other pumps from higher and nothing happens. The pump is extremely loud, like a grinding sound. Brand new put in fresh ro/di so nothing caught in the intake. Both pumps did made the sound. It’s also a weak pump and takes forever to transfer water. Safe your money. There are better options out there.
Ok to be honest I bought one a few years ago and when I got it thought it looked cheap and like some bilge pump for a boat. I summarily sent it back. The last few years I have heard and read all sort of good things about this pump and decided to reorder it an actual use it this time. And boy O’ boy am I glad I did. This pump in awesome. I am thinking of ordering a second on. (One for tank maintenance and one for my tank. I don’t mix that equipment…ever!). This is now the workhorse my my tank maintenance jobs! The absolute best thing I can say about this pump is… IT WORKS!…exactly as the box says it will. Great pump.
Great pump, I thought it was pricey but it’s well worth the cost. Really well made and robust. Cuts water change times and mess down to nearly nothing.
Makes water changes easy for both my salt and fresh water tanks, A must have!
Great pump for water changes so far. Bought the python water change hose with it and makes it 10x easier to do a water change.
This is a must have for reefers. Makes water changes a breeze, and gets nearly all the water eight down to the bottom of the barrels without having to tilt them. Use it for mixing water then removing sump water and again to replace water. 5 stars
This pump is really convenient for water changes and when setting up my new tank- moving water around was a breeze and it really does draw it down to near empty. I wish it had an on/off switch for ease of turning it off, but it’s easy enough to unplug.
The pump stopped after first use. Pulled the pump apart, the impeller shaft had broken.
I use this pump constantly it is extremely quiet and much more powerful than I imagined it would be. Do not hesitate to get this!
makes water changes easy,
This is awesome with a python. Use the python to drain, screw the python onto the already-correct size on this Sicce pump, refill tank. So convenient and powerful.
I have two 45 gallon acrylic tanks in my fish room for rodi and mixed salt water. I have had one of these in each for a year and they are both workhorses. I get almost everything out of these tanks with these pumps.
This pump makes changing water from the sump much easier and is able to completely drain the water down to almost nothing removing all the built up detritus. Well worth the money for that now easy task. Also use it to transfer water from RODI to salt mixing station and to completely drain my 200 gallon salt mixing barrel if I needed to move it or clean the mixing pump.
This pump makes water changes so quick and easy but it only last three months.
Previously listed is someone who said they attached their python to fill up their 180 and it did it in 10 minutes. I wish mine would do the same. I wanted to move water faster from my garage to my 180 and this pump is slower than my current pump. Estimated time would be 30-40 minutes. Maybe I need to take it apart to see if something is causing a problem otherwise I wasted my money!
Awesome was able to completely empty out tank during leak check of plumbing. Beats sucking on the end of a tube to get siphon started. Works great for mixing station. Only wish it had a toggle power switch. However guess you could use a surge protector.
This pump and a python have revolutionized how I perform water changes. I consider this a “must have” for anyone who does water changes of 10 gallons or more at a time.
I got this after watching the BRS video on it. Boy are they right. This thing is amazing! I reach for it anytime I have to drain water-tank or fountain. It is a real back saver. I won't go without this again.
So I'm in the process of converting my lifelong 180 gallon fresh water aquarium over to a reef set up. As such I've been picking up all of the new bells and whistles from my LFS and BRS respectively. I spent all of yesterday sanding down and re-painting the stand and canopy... while the paint dried it was time for the (insert dramatic music here) LEAK TEST!!!! After filling the tank a good portion and letting sit, I broke out this little monster which I had decided on after reading prior reviews. Simply put... this thing is plug and play. It attached directly to my Python, and zoom! All 180 gallons sent straight out of my garage in about 10 minutes! Super easy to dry off and re-pack into it's original box. I only wish that I was able to find this sooner! I'll definitely be using it for all re-filling purposes down the road! And of course the initial fill of this bad boy! 10/10 Would drain again.
From mixing water to filling the tank, this pump can’t be beat. I had absolutely no problem with the price, the time saved alone paid for it. Although my dumb butt never considered using it to remove water from the tank, was still connecting to the sink lol
This pump is a game changer. I use two brute cans for my water changes. I have a line in each to help make the process easy. Helps you take out and replace the same amount of water. I used to have to hold my bucket sideways to get the last several inches of water. Not any more this pump removes almost all the water and helps streamline the process. I use the python 10' section of hose and the hook. Makes putting water back in the tank hands free. While I agree its expensive for this set up, I highly recommend it. Makes the water change game a lot easier.
The pump is listed as being 4.7" wide. Presumably that would be at the widest point (the base). The base is actually over 5" wide (about 5.25"). I had planned to put this in a water container with a 5" opening. So much for that idea.
Great pump, quiet helps water changing immensely. Took a star off because it's not strong enough to use between floors, tried to use it to pump from my basement mixing room to dt on main floor, about 10 ft vertical I spose and couldn't do it. Will still use it for mixing salt and water changes.
The number one thing i personally hate doing is water changes. Its not even doing them that i dislike, its the amount of time it takes to drain the tank. NOT ANY MORE!!! This pump has literally saved me HOURS of time and has also saved me from back pains lifting and carrying buckets to and from my tank. If you are looking to make your water change experience better, this is the pump for you!!!
This pump is a work horse! It has been so helpful in both removing water from the tank and putting clean water back in. No more lifting bucket's to do that chore. It is easy to grab from the top. Can drain the water down to 2mm if needed. Best of all, it fits the tubing on the Python. I only wish I had bought it sooner!
love it
I have two of these pumps - one for moving RO/DI water from my laundry room to my saltwater mixing container (about 40 feet), and another for moving saltwater to the aquarium. 1. The handles on top make them easy to grab. 2. The way they move practically all the water in a container (as low as 2 mm) is awesome. 3. The 3/4" discharge fits the threads of two Python Water Change Systems that I dedicated for their use. Easy and reliable!
