Description
Seachem PhosGuard is a high-capacity and highly efficient filtration product designed to rapidly remove phosphates and silicates from both marine and freshwater aquariums. Its primary function is to improve water quality, which in turn helps to control and reduce the growth of nuisance hair algae and enhances the health and growth of corals. This media can be used continuously or intermittently as needed to maintain pristine water conditions, and it permanently binds phosphates, ensuring they are not released back into the aquarium water over time.
Unlike many competing products, PhosGuard features a unique bead-shaped design that promotes optimal water flow through the media, preventing clogging and maximizing surface area contact. It is exceptionally porous, giving it an enhanced capacity for phosphate and silicate absorption. Each liter of PhosGuard is capable of treating up to 300 gallons of aquarium water, with a working capacity to remove 20 to 60 mg/L of phosphate in a 100-gallon system. It should be noted that this product is not recommended for use in phosphate-buffered freshwater aquariums.
This product is ideal for saltwater reef aquarists and freshwater hobbyists who are battling persistent high levels of phosphate and silicate, often manifested as stubborn algae problems. It is particularly beneficial for reef tank owners who want to create an ultra-low nutrient environment to promote vibrant coral coloration and health. If you are looking for a reliable, fast-acting, and high-capacity solution to manage key nutrients and improve the overall clarity and stability of your aquarium, PhosGuard is an excellent choice.
