Description
Seachem PhosGuard is a high-capacity and high-efficiency filtration product designed to rapidly remove phosphates and silicates from both marine and freshwater aquariums. Its primary function is to improve water quality, which in turn helps to control the growth of nuisance hair algae and enhance the health and growth of corals. This media can be used continuously or intermittently as needed to maintain optimal water parameters without the risk of releasing bound phosphates back into the aquarium.
Unlike many competing products, PhosGuard features a unique bead-shaped design that ensures optimum water flow characteristics through your reactor or filter bag, preventing clogging and maximizing contact time. It possesses exceptional porosity for an enhanced removal capacity, with a working ability to remove 20 to 60 mg/L of phosphate in 100 gallons of water. Each liter of PhosGuard is powerful enough to effectively treat up to 300 gallons, offering a potent solution for nutrient control.
This product is ideal for saltwater reef aquarists and freshwater hobbyists who are battling elevated levels of phosphate and silicate. It is particularly beneficial for those experiencing persistent algae issues or for aquarists aiming to create an ultra-low nutrient system to promote vibrant coral coloration and growth. While highly effective in most setups, it is not recommended for use in phosphate-buffered freshwater aquariums.
