Seachem Matrix Carbon is a premium activated carbon designed to provide superior chemical filtration for saltwater aquariums. Its primary function is to remove dissolved organic compounds, tannins, and other impurities, resulting in unparalleled water clarity and purity. This high-capacity media efficiently adsorbs contaminants, polishing the water to create a healthier and more visually stunning aquatic environment for your corals and fish.

This filter media is engineered as a unique spherical bead, a shape that ensures optimal hydrodynamics and prevents the packing and channeling common with granular carbons. This design permits maximum water flow and contact with its high density of macroporous binding sites. Matrix Carbon features an exceptionally low ash content with a minimal impact on pH, not raising it above 7.0 even in distilled water. Critically for reef aquariums, it has the lowest detectable leachable phosphate content of all major carbon brands tested, outperforming others by at least two-fold in total capacity, adsorption rate, and duration of use.

The 4000 ml bulk container of Matrix Carbon is best suited for aquarists with large reef systems, multiple tanks, or aquarium maintenance professionals seeking a cost-effective, high-performance solution. Its long-lasting effectiveness, treating 100 gallons for several months with just 250 ml, makes this size economical for serious hobbyists who demand consistent water quality. It is the ideal choice for those who need to maintain pristine conditions in sensitive reef environments where phosphate control and pH stability are paramount.
