RowaPhos Phosphate Remover is a patented, man-made ferric hydroxide material chemically engineered for the efficient removal of phosphates, arsenic, and silicates from both fresh and saltwater aquariums. This advanced filter media effectively combats nuisance algae, which can quickly overrun expensive corals and detract from your tank's aesthetics. By significantly reducing phosphate levels, RowaPhos helps foster optimal conditions for robust coral growth and maintains pristine water clarity.
Boasting a remarkable adsorption capability, RowaPhos can remove up to 25 grams of phosphate per kilogram of media, ensuring long-lasting effectiveness. Developed in Germany, this media is designed not to leak adsorbed phosphates back into the water even when exhausted, providing peace of mind for reef keepers. For instance, 100 grams of RowaPhos can effectively remove 3 ppm of phosphate from 100 US gallons of saltwater. It is crucial to keep the product damp and replace the lid if not using the entire container, as it loses effectiveness if allowed to dry out.
This product is ideal for any saltwater aquarium enthusiast seeking to proactively manage nutrient levels and eliminate persistent nuisance algae issues. It is particularly beneficial for reef tank owners looking to enhance coral health, improve coloration, and ensure the long-term vitality of their delicate ecosystems. RowaPhos offers a simple yet powerful solution for maintaining consistently low phosphate levels, leading to a healthier, more vibrant, and visually appealing aquatic environment for all inhabitants.

Wow!! This stuff works great ! Overnight my phosphate went from 1.0 to 0.23 . I’ll be using this from now on my my phosphate jumps.
This product works great at removing phosphates, I use the recommended amount and it typically drops my phosphates by half. Highly recommend!
Buy it in a bulk and now i can save money with using my own baggies. Rinse in rodi and place in the flow before my sump. Does a great job controlling my phosphate in my tank.
The container I received didn't come with a mesh bag for it, so if you don't have one at hand you'd want to purchase that. I used triple the recommended value and while it did drop the phosphate but it certainly didn't half it or drop it as much as I expected. I'm not sure if my package was faulty, because BRS says it should be damp but mine certainly didn't feel like it.
I was skeptical buy had had enough of the diatom issues and green hair algae, so gave it a try in my MRC reactor. I did rinse it thru my reactor to a 2.5 gal. Bucket first and GLAD I did too, The stuff that came out i didn’t want settling my tank or sump! So then installed in my sump (skimmer section) and put the outlet in front of my return pump inlet. In a day or two the diatoms were nil and the green hair disappeared in a week. I did use high flow for the first week and then reduced the flow by half there after. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
After purchasing a $200+ HOB Skimmer, various additives,Low feeding, floss cleaning, water changing and the GHA still persisted. I bought a BRS Mini + carbon + Rowa and finally my tank is better than before.
In my 10+ years of keeping reef tanks I've tried many phosphate removers but would always come back to using Rowaphos. It brings phosphate level to 0 in a matter of days!
Don't rinse it! The liquid that is produced when you first use it will help with phosphate and silicate. I've used just about every GFO product out there and nothing compares to Rowa.
Great product and works very well. Was running another product and have had much better results with this. I allow about 1/2 gallon of runnoff with media change to strain out the issual residue.
yup.. 5 stars!
It work great and fast even before using a reactor it work great even on a bag in a high flow sump area
This thing is amazing, I was running a different product before and it took a while to get the same results with this one in just one day, amazing just make sure to rinse before using it
Running in reactor. Started with .25 level and within one month results are .01. Was running rowaphos at a slight tumble, wasn't getting results so I opened ball valve up a little so I didn't have any dead spots in media and bam....phosphate levels dropped to .01.
great stuff brought my phosphates down within 3 weeks of use.
Since i have a new tank and it's settling in, i was faced with a rapid green hair algea bloom. all the while i still had diatoms galore after 8 months. I bought some live stock to help but was losing the battle. As i did more research i found out that my cause was high phosphate. sure enough my levels were high. So i purchased a reactor and put BRS Bulk GFO Granular Ferric Oxide. I lowered the phosphates successfully to 0.02 and holding. The green hair algea is slowly dying off however my diatoms are blooming. I switched to this products are diatoms are indication that there is a high level of silicates. I've been using it for about 1 week now, and i have noticed a drastic reduction of silicates and my phosphates are at 0.01! Hopefully, a couple more weeks and ill be rid of the algea
Deciding to run phosphate remover was one of the best decisions I made when setting up a reef tank. Rowaphos works well and lasts for a couple of months before it needs to be replaced. I know the product says not to rinse it, but I would never run this without rinsing it. The best way to change media is to combine it with a water change. -Remove old media and drain reactor -Add new media -Route the reactor effluent to a 5 gallon bucket -Turn on pump and run 5 gallons through it -Put 5 gallons of fresh saltwater back in your tank -Move reactor effluent back to sump and dump the red waste water If you don't rinse the media, you'll blow red particles all around the tank. Soft corals seem especially sensitive to it and will shrink up for a day.
i went from phos of .5 to .2 in 18 hrs!!
I just started using this product for a couple of weeks now and have brought my Phosphate readings dow from...0.50 to 0.07 good stuff
my phosphate levels were .50, i have now got it down to .07 in only a couple of weeks great product, in one of the reviiews above it says to rinse it ...you are not suppose to rinse it according to the instructions...
This is a great product, but make sure you rinse it thoroughly before you get it going in your tank!
This product is worth every penny. I am using it in a Pass through filter style system, with the included bag. getting ~250GPH on a 60 Gal Setup. when phosphate gets to .01 its time to replace. They recommend replacing a lesser amount more often. Depending on your phosphate levels.
I've run Rowaphos for about 6 years now and have always liked its results. You know when its time to replace when you see some hair starting or levels of phosphates show up in your testing. Its downside is price but you can really run rowaphos a long time and not have to worry about leaching. So you get its moneys worth. I'll be running it for more years to come I'm sure.
I have been using this product for about 6 months and has always kept my phosphates reading 0. It is very dirty when you first fluidize but clears up pretty quickly. A little bit goes a long way. I change mine about every 3 months, it could possibly last longer but I change it before the phosphates start reading.
