Aquaforest Reef Salt Mix is a high-quality, synthetic marine salt specifically formulated to support the vibrant health and growth of corals in saltwater reef aquariums. This ionically balanced formula ensures a stable environment by replenishing essential micro and macro nutrients that are crucial for coral development, enhanced coloration, and overall immunity. It is designed to mimic the natural reef, providing the building blocks necessary for a thriving closed ecosystem. The product line includes two distinct options to cater to varying reef tank needs. Aquaforest Reef Salt+ is enriched with elevated levels of key macronutrients such as alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium, making it ideal for fully stocked LPS and SPS coral systems with high nutrient demands and rapid growth. The standard Aquaforest Reef Salt is a fully synthetic marine salt, specifically enhanced with amino acids and Vitamin C to support coral immune systems and pigmentation, proving effective for a wide range of corals including soft corals, SPS, LPS, and clams. Both formulations are laboratory-guaranteed for stable parameters and dissolve quickly and clearly in RODI water for immediate use. For advanced reef keepers managing rapidly growing, nutrient-demanding coral colonies, Aquaforest Reef Salt+ provides the robust support required to maintain a stable and healthy environment, reducing the need for extensive individual microelement dosing. Hobbyists seeking a reliable, all-in-one synthetic marine salt for general reef aquarium use, especially those with aquacultured corals, soft corals, or a mix of species, will find the standard Aquaforest Reef Salt exceptionally beneficial for promoting healthy growth, vibrant coloration, and strong immune function. Regular water changes with either mix consistently deliver valuable elements back into the aquarium, ensuring long-term success.

Just mixed 2 batches after receiving this product yesterday. With the salinity at 35, the Alk ended up testing at 13.8 and then again at 13.7. I followed directions to a T, including water temp at 76. I shook the salt up before using it. Just in case there was any settling. I use Hanna Checkers for my testing. I didn't bother to test anything else because I can't use it with the Alk that high. My DT usually sits at 7/8. I bought this because I hate dosing alk manually and I don't have a doser. I guess I could use it throughout the 3-day usage period it has to be used in. More work than I want to do, though. I gave it 3 stars because I love how fast it mixes and is way clearer when mixed than other salts I have tried. I will update if I find any improvement for the next batch. I'm not giving up yet.
I love how quickly this salt seems to dissolve into my RO/DI water as well as how it hasn't caused my alkalinity to fluctuate away from 8DKH. I mix in small batches before each water change and let the salt mix for about an hour, but it seems to dissolve within a few minutes even at room temperature as I wait for the water to come up to temperature.
So far I’ve been using this salt for about a month. I believe this salt has been doing really well for my corals. Just wish it was easier to get from other places as well.
Give it a solid 24 hours mixing time and you will be set. It will clear up fast, but to really let the chemistry be in line let this mix a full day before using.
As the time went on I noticed major fluctuations in the product parameters to the point where I wouldn’t use this salt if you gave it to me free. This salt, since I have used it the alkalinity was always low at about 7-3/7-5DKH . Calcium would come in at around 450ppm. Last 2 purchases calcium is so high that my salifert test kit can’t even read it. Test kit has been verified as okay by testing tank parameters to Trident reading and also compared to an ATI test. I do not recommend using this salt unless you want your tank parameters to go ballistic.
