The Reef Octopus Classic 1000-HOB is a high-performance, hang-on-back protein skimmer designed to provide essential filtration for saltwater aquariums. It efficiently removes dissolved organic waste compounds from the water column before they can break down into harmful nitrates and phosphates. This process helps maintain superior water quality, clarity, and a healthier environment for all your aquatic inhabitants. Its compact design makes it a favorite choice for aquarists seeking powerful skimming without an in-sump setup. Constructed from high-quality acrylic, this skimmer features a unique low-profile body with an externally mounted pump, which minimizes both the space required behind the tank and heat transfer to the aquarium water. It is powered by the highly efficient Aquatrance 1000s pinwheel pump, which consumes only 9 watts while producing an optimal air and water mixture for maximum waste removal. Additional features include a built-in surface skimmer to remove oily surface films and an air silencer for quiet operation. The unit has a footprint of 8 by 3.5 inches and stands 17 inches tall. This skimmer is an ideal solution for aquarists with tanks up to 105 gallons who lack a sump or have limited space. Its performance is adaptable to various stocking levels, rated to handle a light filtration demand in a 100-gallon aquarium, a medium demand in a 75-gallon system, or a heavy filtration demand in a 55-gallon reef tank. Anyone looking for a reliable, quiet, and space-saving hang-on skimmer that delivers exceptional performance will find the Classic 1000-HOB to be an excellent investment for their marine aquarium.
