Purchased to use over a frag tank for swaps, only used it for 12 hours from date of purchase two years ago. My issue is, it's useless after attempting to update firmware, update started and never ended, waited an hour, nothing. So tried factory resetting, that won't even work and it officially doesn't work at all.
These lights are not good.. ...I purchased 3 of these units and it was clear that all 3 performed differently. I tested each spectrum individually, setting total intensity to 20% and then toggling 1 spectrum at a time to 1% and then 10%, and not once did all 3 lights match. Some times 1 light would be really bright at 1%, sometimes it wouldnt turn on at all, or would turn on very faintly.. this was not specific to just 1 of the units.. each unit had it's own spectrums that performed poorly.. i took pictures of each spectrum when doing this to prove it but I cannot share those here. I tried increasing the intensities and the discrepancies still existed. There is no fine tuning capable with these kinds of variations..low level/mid level adjustments are entirely inept.. i contacted Reef Factory about this and they basically just said that 'there will be variations at low level intensities' and that this 'IS the way the lights are going to function.. this is not a defect' this was unnacceptable to me for 400 dollar lights.... BRS was great and gave me a full refund and I can move past this nightmare. Beyond the lights not being useable..the spread is not great, and shadowing was prevalent.... the app is app abysmal, as is echoed in many other reviews out there.. these lights should not exist, and I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend , especially when there are many other options out there
I like the design of this light, has good coverage, and puts out a nice color. App has given me 0 issues in the couple months I've used it which seems to be everyone else's main complaint about reef factory.
