I have 2 of the Radion XR15 Pro LED lights on my 90 gal reef tank and they have been great. About 6 months in and no issues so far.
the par on this light you would think would be stronger but its not its not good enough for higher end sps so be prepared to add supplemental. overall well rounded light but giving the price there are better options.
Last until the warranty is out and then one will not connect to mobius and other looses correct time constantly. Have 2 bought at same time and will not buy this brand again.
Have run every generation and iteration of Radions since the Gen 1. These are the best they have ever made in terms of spectrum, spread, and performance. The Pro version can get plenty white for those wanting a 6500 to 10k look. They can also go super blue/violet for the dusk/dawn glow if that is your thing. I run 6 of them over a 72*36*22 250g peninsula. I also have a 57" AI Blade Glow running between them. At full blast I am well over 500 PAR at the top of my rocks. Over 200 on the sand. Growing SPS top to bottom. Without the Blade I am around 400 PAR at the top of the rocks and 170PAR on the sand. I set the blues and violets to 100%. Then set the whites to around 60% for my desired look. This gets me about 350 PAR at the top and 150 on the sand. With all that said, Mobius is way better than it used to be but still can't hold times properly. I will wake up to one or two lights going full blast at 2AM. It seems to catch on and resume the schedule after 10-15 seconds. I don't understand how this is still an issue all these years later unless it is a hardware issue in the lights. 2 of mine are worse than the others. They are G5s converted to G6s. Maybe that is part of the issue? Not the end of the world but something to note. I would still buy these lights every time and I have ran or tested almost every major brand on the market. They blow away the Coral Care, GHL Mitras, Kessil, and countless others.
I love my radion XR15 pros! I started out with 2 on a 4 foot peninsula tank and added a 3rd a few months in. They are the only light source I have other than a little scattered sunlight throughout the day and my acropora have amazing coloration. I've been using the WWC lighting program, which is a modified version of the radion's AB+ and I really enjoy it. I've had no issues with Mobius, it's a much easier app to use then Apex Fusion with a user interface that's about 100x better!
I recently bought and installed (3) Radion XR15 G6 Pro reef lights on my 4-foot-long 80 gallon display tank. They are superb. I used the RMS track system, which is pricey but well-designed. Everything about these lights is premium, save perhaps the black plastic housing, but this reduces the fixture’s weight, so there’s still likely some benefit to be had there. The LED board, the magnetic diffuser plate, the mounting system, even the MeanWell power brick: superb. I’ve found one flaw, which is the raw PAR generation of the unit. I have the lights spaced 5 inches apart, for an almost perfect spread across the tank. I’m running them at 95% intensity, with EVERY color channel cranked to 100% (except red, which I run at 25%), and the top of my rockscape, which is 10 inches below the rim of the tank, is getting about 300 PAR across the board. Using the standard RMS track, that puts the lights at 18 inches above the top of my scape, 10 of which is water essentially. I have some surface disruption on the water, but nothing crazy. My water is very clear. I’m really having to push these lights to see that 300 PAR at the top of my scape. I was kind of surprised. The spread to all corners of the tank is great. Shadows are also greatly reduced. But this does obviously come at a notable cost in raw PAR power for SPS corals. It also sort of pigeonholes people into not adjusting the aesthetic look of the spectrum much, as you’ll need to run basically all channels almost (or at) full, to gain the PAR you need for SPS. Fortunately, I love a super bright, white look to my tank, as the human eye would witness an actual shallow ocean reef. But not everyone loves that much white. So just understand that although these lights are the most well-rounded, high-quality fixture on the market (in my opinion), sacrifices might have to be made depending on your particular goals and unique tank dimensions, if you’re really gunning for intensive PAR power. One last thing I’ll mention, since everyone has an opinion: Mobius. It’s been great. In fact, Mobius has been great for me for everything from Vortech wavemakers to Nero wavemakers to AI Primes to AI Hydras to Radions. And it’s been great for years. I’m absolutely convinced that upwards of 80% of users screaming about how “terrible” Mobius is, actually are just way worse with simple consumer tech interfaces than they want to believe they are. Mobius is seriously good software, folks. I use it daily, and haven’t experienced a single error or connection issue since it debuted. Anyhow. That’s my two cents on these premium lights. I do love and recommend them. Nothing is perfect, but these are in the good to great range in every category really. Just be sure you know what to expect going in.
I was worried about every aspect of this light from cost to function and pro vs blue. The light was pretty expensive and then it doesn’t even come with the mounting arm so that sucks. Decided to go with the single arm holding the light and I think the entire device+ arm looks great, super super great. Upon initial set up it would not link and in term wouldn’t function , semi frustrating , but I found deleting and reinstalling the app fixed it. Haven’t had that issue since. Links to the Nero power head, so that’s pretty neat. I really like the pros color , couldn’t imagine any more of a blue hue. In just two weeks I can tell the growth in everything from frammers to blastos. 100% satisfaction.
I've always wanted to upgrade to radions and this year I decided to start a new tank and went looking for the top lights to buy. I did have an extremely hard time deciding between the blues and the pros and actually ended up ordering both
I've been operating reef tanks for 15 years, and this light is the best one I've ever had. The Mobius app is simple and easy to use. I don't use any of the templates. I like to utilize the custom feature. I just simply establish a 9 hour light schedule and slide the icon for the Kelvin scale to the look that I want and vuala! I'm done! This fixture has power to spare. The median of my light channel output is about 50%. That ought to give my led's a nice long life. Excellent light fixture. Absolutely love it!
Not sure what the complaints are all about with the app. I’ve had zero issues with möbius. Lights look great and corals are happy. 3 of these have out my 6ft sps dominant tank.
The app forces you to create an account and login before being able to access the light settings. This would be fine EXCEPT that when the Mobius/Ecotech servers go down or you lose internet connectivity, you have no control over the light. Bet you can't guess what issues I'm having right now... The login requirement is an unnecessary problem. The light communicates via bluetooth, so there is no technological reason the app requires connection to Ecotech's servers. I can understand Ecotech wanting folks to login in order to register the light in order to be able to control it from your phone the first time. I can also somewhat understand requiring an initial login to get an authentication code to control the light. It is far from difficult to put in an authentication handshake that allows control of the light without connection to the internet. Ecotech needs to fix this. They also need to come up with some way of allow users to control their light in the event that Ecotech folds or no longer wants to support the app. That the mobile app, requiring a login, is the ONLY way to control their equipment means that should Ecotech fold, users will have a useless piece of kit. With how popular the Radions are within the hobby and how expensive they are, I figured Ecotech had things ironed out. I was wrong. I generally avoid IOT and bluetooth products for this very reason and I'm starting to believe I should have kept with that trend. On top of the app issues, I had problems with the power supply having a stable connection. I had to bend the pins of one of the jacks so that the light would have stable power without bending the cable at an odd position. For a $500 light, I'm not impressed with the quality of the supporting equipment and infrastructure. And unless Ecotech manages to fix their ecosystem in a hurry, I won't be purchasing another one.
