I have had amazon lights for a while and decided to step up the game. I done a good bit of looking around and I just kept coming back the these. They are a bit pricey. But they do look so much better than the ones I have had in the past.
I have been running a pair of the blue xr15's on my tank for about a year now - and the results show- they pack a punch for the size - top quality I've used MOBIUS at first - now they run off my apex
Great lights. Haven't had an issue with them at all. I've had them since they first came out thanks to brs. I've heard of ppl having issues with connecting to movies but I have yet to have any. My first expensive high end lights & I'm happy with them.
Only had this light for a few weeks now, best thing I have ever done for my tank. I was worried corals (sps tank with a few lps at the bottom) would get upset with a light change, but the acclimation mode made it a perfect transition. Coral started changing to more vibrant colors after just one week under these lights. I have had no issues with the app, but I have just one light on a 20 gallon cube with nothing else connected to the app. If you want your corals to love you, this is the light.
I was hesitant on buying this light due to the negative reviews about Mobius. But I have yet to have any issues with it so far. Trying to do a custom schedule is a little annoying but after a few tries I've figured it out. I upgraded my original AI Prime to this light and I'm impressed. I've got a mixed reef and it's growing my SPS, LPS and softies just fine. I have a 20 gallon IM Nuvo tank (for reference) and it gets more than enough spread. The best part is I only have to run them at 35% so hopefully they'll last me a long time.
I own 14 EcoTech devices on my current tank. I have no problems with the hardware but Mobius is horrible. To make a change to your schedule often requires power cycling devices, pressing reload numerous times to get a schedule to load, logging in and out, etc. Insane that this is acceptable and hasn't been fixed.
I upgraded from a Hydra 26 to this light and… wow! This light is amazing. The shadowing that I had with the Hydra 26 was horrible when compared to the Radion. The difference between the two is absolutely significant. I was immediately impressed with the Radion from the moment it powered on. The setup on the Mobius app was incredibly simple… I even paired my two Nero 3 pumps with it. I was very concerned about the Mobius app after reading multiple reviews of poor performance, however, I’ve not experienced any issues with the Mobius app at all. This far, I’m extremely pleased with the Radion as well as the Mobius app.
Unfortunately, the Mobius app renders these lights close to useless most times. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone until the day comes when Ecotech hires a competent software dev team. I have 4 over my 5 foot tank and there’s always some sort of issue. I’ve had multiple times where one light is randomly out of sync, lights are randomly set to the wrong time, acclimation mode fails and fries my new corals, etc. While when these lights are great when they actually do work, their software can’t be trusted. I would recommend anything else over these, as your corals are not worth the risk.
The light and spread is amazing... And worth it for your corals. It's everything attached to the Mobius that is a joke. I have a Jebao return pump, hydros items.... Including the cheap practically useless wifi powerstrips.... And not a single one has had a connection issue. Yet the light that cost as much as much as all of those put together can't stay connected for more than a week... Between the G6 XR15 and the 2 MP10S... I am always having an issue with one or another component. Have given up on trying to run my pumps in a master/slave configuration as one or the other won't connect to Mobius after a couple days. And then have to factory reset... And if I run them both individually the light will have to be power cycled to reconnect.... It's a pain... And I will be changing to a gyre pump and tossing the MP-10s
I have 3 gen 5 xr15 radion (blue) and 2 Vortech mp 40. They constantly loose there program settings and won’t connect to Mobius without rebooting. I have the ecotech battery backup, so rebooting means unplugging and plugging the Vortech in two places. Maybe we need to program controllers to cycle them twice a day? Actual lights and power heads are awesome though!
Upgraded from AI 16hd, huge improvement in spread and coral coloration. Have mixed reef in a Red Sea 200XL, I’m seeing growth and colors I was sorely missing with the 16hd using the WWC 75 gal template (from their website) at 50% program intensity. No issues with the app.
worked the app, set what i needed and its a trusted light everyday. corals love it
Not sure what the complaints are all about with the app. I’ve had zero issues with möbius. Lights look great and corals are happy. 3 of these have out my 6ft sps dominant tank.
Buenas luces , la aplicacion mobius una basura completa , me arrepenti de comprar esta y no las hydra, mil veces mejor la aplicación de las acuailumination
The app that controls radions Mobius is garbage! They lights themselves seem good, but won’t work without mobius… Contacted tech support MANY times, and just get told to “power cycle & reboot mobius”…. Why should I have to once a week with “high end” equipment??? This comes from dealing with it for 3 xr13’s, 3 xr30’s 2 mp40’s, Vectra m1… Wish I had never bought Ecotech…
If your new and in need of lights I would suggest not wasting your money on Radions. The light itself is not the problem, it’s there very crappy Mobius software, and you really need it if you have multiple lights and pumps o get everything to mesh properly. I have 6 pumps and 11 lights over my tank and the software would never work properly, I contacted Ecotech and there solution was to split all my gear into separate tanks just to get it to work. Way to much of a hassle, I can put 3 skys over my tank replacing the 11 xr15s less cords, less power, and less cost. If you already have an Apex then my recommendation would be to stick with there lights.
I was in the market for decent and affordable lights. After watching countless hours of Youtube videos, and educating myself on the products, especially longevity, and future upgrades; I settled on this one. Every single video praises this light, some are mixed on the blue. I called my local LFS to see if they had a demo of the light and they did. I was immediately drawn to it... I'm not sure what setting they used, but it was apparent the lights were powerful; in my opinion. I did some more research and I found that the max spread for the 15 is 36x36. I am using a breeder 50-gallon tank 36x18 and this light will be way more than enough. My corals are not placed near the glass, (to give swimming space to my inhabitants) therefore technically if you subtract the 5 inches of space from the two opposite sides lengthwise this light is perfect. The app is pretty neat I was given a demo, it's super easy to change lights. The biggest 2 reasons I chose this light, especially this price was that you can upgrade the LED's in the future. So if they come out with a G7 you will most likely be able to upgrade, crossing fingers. Also to my understanding, they added another white to this light which the previous G5 blue generation did not have. The biggest annoyance is the mount, the bolt is exposed and you can not change the height, especially for the price of an extra 100$ no mount should be that much. There are lots of youtube videos out there for alternatives but they all require you to drill a hole etc... I don't have time for that. I am excited, my light should arrive in a few days. Have to thank Scott from customer service, he educated me on some things. I'll repeat what he told me, "the height of where you place your corals is more important than the spread." Makes absolute sense as different corals require different intensities. He recommend me the Hydra, but I didn't like the aesthetic compared to the G6. G6 looks way more expensive... My LFS would not price match so I just purchased some livestock from them to support them and the light on this website. -Cheers
Subbed out the Orphek Icons for these and I gotta say it was seriously work it, pop in color is much better excited to see the growth next!
