Transform your existing Nyos Quantum protein skimmer into a fully connected and controllable smart device with the Skimz Quantum EQ Upgrade Kit. This kit replaces key components of your Quantum 160, 220, or 300 skimmer, unlocking advanced control, improved efficiency, and modern safety features. It allows you to bring your trusted skimmer up to date with the latest in reefing technology without needing to purchase an entirely new unit.
The heart of the upgrade is the new energy-efficient, European-made DC pump that enables wireless control via the Mobius app or integration with Neptune Apex systems through the MXM module. You can precisely adjust the pump speed from 1% to 100%, create daily schedules, and utilize intelligent operating modes like Plankton Saving and Nutrient Export Reduction. The system also provides valuable feedback through RGB LEDs and sends alerts directly to your app for enhanced safety and peace of mind.
This upgrade kit is designed for the modern reef aquarist who already owns a Nyos Quantum skimmer and wants to leverage the power of smart aquarium control. It is ideal for hobbyists seeking to automate their nutrient export, fine-tune skimmer performance to match their system's bioload, and integrate their equipment into a cohesive ecosystem like Mobius or Apex Fusion. If you value precision, convenience, and data-driven reefing, this kit provides a significant technological enhancement to your existing filtration.

First off I will say I have not even plugged the pumps in yet so I can’t comment on how well they run the skimmer but I have high hopes for them, I do also hope that they fixed the issue with having to replace the impeller every 6 months or less as they would break. I got this to upgrade my quantum 300 skimmer after one of the original pumps failed after 3ish years of use. The pumps look exactly the same besides having controllers attached to them, the new bubble plate is exactly the same besides there is a small notch added to allow the new LEDs to pass through it, anyone that could use a hand held drill could modify the existing bubble plate, so it seems silly to not have a kit without the bubble plate included as I would think that is quite a bit of cost. The controllers overall are simple and pleasing to the eye, however the feel “cheap” and seems like for the cost of this kit they could have worked on the design to add some kind of seal to attempt to keep moisture out of the controller chip. I hope the pumps perform and I am still really excited to get this up and running, but for the cost, it’s a toss up on if you should upgrade or not, if you have a pump go out maybe, but if your pumps are still running good I would say no way, wait till maybe version 2.0 comes out as it still seems like this is Beta.
