Two Little Fishies One & Only Saltwater Live Nitrifying Bacteria is a premium supplement engineered to rapidly establish and maintain a healthy biological filter in marine aquariums. This potent solution introduces millions of live nitrifying bacteria directly into your tank, working instantly to neutralize harmful ammonia and nitrite. It effectively prevents new tank syndrome, stabilizes water parameters, and allows for the introduction of fish much sooner, all without introducing any sulfurs or unpleasant odors.
Developed by Dr. Tim, a renowned expert in marine microbiology, this product is highly recommended for fishless cycling new setups, particularly when combined with ammonium chloride. Its versatile application extends to use after water changes, when adding new livestock, or following various aquarium treatments. It is available in convenient sizes: 2oz for up to 30-gallon aquariums, 4oz for up to 60-gallon, 8oz for up to 120-gallon, and 16oz for up to 240-gallon tanks. For optimal results, ensure your aquarium is dechlorinated and temporarily disable protein skimmers and UV sterilizers for up to 48 hours post-application, and always shake the bottle vigorously before use.
This essential supplement is perfect for both novice and experienced saltwater aquarists who prioritize a stable and healthy marine environment. It is invaluable for anyone setting up a new aquarium, as it significantly accelerates the nitrogen cycle, mitigating the risks associated with toxic ammonia and nitrite spikes. Existing tank owners will also benefit from its ability to quickly re-establish beneficial bacteria after disruptions, ensuring consistent water quality and reducing stress on all aquatic life.

cycled my waterbox pen 25 in 14 days works great
I have a 69 Red Sea tank I gave. it a few days before adding Dr. Tim one and only after 48 hours I tested my ammonia and nitrites to see what they were and tested again and it dropped down to 2.0. the stuff is great.
Cycling a 100 gallon tank now. Things are going smooth so far. I HIGHLY recommend watching Dr. Tim Hovanec's MACNA presentation entitled "How to harness bacteria to cycle your saltwater tank quickly!" It was very informative, and easy to understand. There's a lot of information you just won't easily find elsewhere such as keeping your salinity low and your temperature high (fishless cycle). That you should carefully watch your nitrites and export them via water change so they don't stall out your ammonia oxidizing bacteria (AOB), since Nitrite oxidizing bacteria (NOB) grow slower and have to catch up with the AOB. Keeping your ammonia levels less than 4ppm. It answers why your alkalinity goes down in during the cycle. Just so much info in that 35 minute video. Go watch it! It's on BRSTV.
Used this to cycle two tanks in the beginning. My QT and my main display. Worked wonderfully for a fish in cycle.
I cannot say enough good things about the Dr. Tim's One and Only. It is simply the best and IMO a must have for any aquarium. I use Dr. Tims one and only and it cycled my tank in less than a week. (I also used the Brightwell Bio-brick). This is one of the best things you can use, for biological growth, in the tank. I will never not use it when setting up a tank again. I also dose 2oz a month to my tank for continued biological benefit AND the corals love to eat it!
Cycling a 20 gallon Waterbox located in my office, not wanting this to be a "ugly cycle" and odorless I decided to go with Dr. Tim's. I have cycled tanks before using Dr. Tim's method and had success. With this tank the cycle has been going on for 4 weeks now. Ammonia was super high using the Ammonium Chloride per the bottle 4 drops per gallon, also taking into account the displacement. I have since as of a couple of days ago removed some water and replaced using One & Only again and we shall see what happens but I am not too optimistic. Comes with the territory and whether or not this product works 100% of the time is irrelevant as I chose to purchase. If this tank was a 350 and with the cost of the product I would probably be livid.
Used The Ammonia and nitrifying bacteria on two different tanks and in both cases the tanks had completed the nitrifying cycle with in two weeks. Never lost an animal in either tank and the ammonia and nitrites never went up again.
It does what it says it does. I wouldn’t go without it when starting a new tank.
I made the decision after extensive research to use this product for cycling my new 360 gallon tank. Around 420 gallons total water volume with sump. After nearly one week of adding just under $200 worth of this product, two of the 16 oz bottles, and dosing ammonia as directed...... I have had zero change in ammonia readings. Dr Tim's basic explanation everywhere is all tanks are different so just wait for ammonia to get to zero. I guess Dr. Tim's just can't guarantee the efficacy of the bacteria in each bottle. It simply is not doing anything and I wish it were possible to get a refund from BRS on this product.
Hi- This is a complete waste of $100. He is a Dr of stalled cycles. Seriously, there has to be some level of refund for this fraud.
dosed with dr tims ammonia, 150g completely cycled in about 14-15 days. it did take about 7-8 days before you start to see the ammonia levels steadily go down....then nitrates
I bought this product to perform an accelerated cycle on my tank. I used in conjunction with their ammonium chloride solution at 2 ppm and in five days there was zero change in my ammonia, nitrites, or nitrates (2ppm, 0ppm, and 0ppm respectively). Today I added turbostart at a ratio of 1oz:25g and within six hours have seen a decrease in ammonia by ~.5ppm and an increase in nitrites by ~.5ppm. I will never buy this product again and definitely recommend Turbostart as an alternative.
works very well, I will always use for tank start ups
I decided to try it out and after a week the tanks ready for fish.
I used this when I set up my 100 gallon and when I set up my 250 gallon.... Wife was stressed but fish were not. Proven to work and makes set up worry free.
Put this in my tank after I had my rock in and 1 fish. I seen the nitrate and nitrite numbers drop over night. The ammonia bacteria are there but they take a bit longer to catch up to the others. Overall would recommmend this product over some of the others out there...this stuff is real and it just works
This product really works. I know allot of people will disagree, but you can literally setup a tank with this stuff and have soft corals within a week. Used it several times. Glad to see BRS has started carrying it
