Brightwell Aquatics NeoMarine Salt Mix is a meticulously researched and precision-formulated reef salt designed to replicate the natural seawater ratios of all major, minor, and trace elements. This advanced salt mix creates a marine environment so chemically similar to natural tropical reef waters that aquarium inhabitants are unlikely to discern any difference from real ocean water. It is suitable for all types of marine aquaria, including reef, mixed reef, FOWLR, fish-only, mangrove, seagrass, and lagoonal systems.
Developed over a multi-year period based on current understanding of marine chemistry and biology, NeoMarine utilizes USP- and ACS Reagent-grade ingredients to ensure purity and consistency. Each batch is manufactured in Brightwell Aquatics' own facility under strict quality control, promoting particle size uniformity and a dry, homogenous blend. A precise 134 grams per US-gallon of purified water yields a specific gravity of approximately 1.025, with a stable pH of about 8.30 and an alkalinity of around 7.5 dKH.
This salt mix is ideal for serious marine aquarists who prioritize stability, natural parameters, and the overall well-being of their aquarium inhabitants. Its scientifically formulated composition helps to minimize stress on delicate corals and fish by providing an environment that closely mirrors their natural habitat. Aquarists seeking a high-quality, consistent, and reliable salt mix for regular water changes and new tank setups will find NeoMarine an excellent choice for fostering a thriving and vibrant marine ecosystem.

For a lower demand tank I had zero problems with this salt. Slight residual and the out gas from the Mag. As demand grew the numbers this salt gave me left me wanting more. I needed higher Alk numbers and trace element numbers than this salt had. Sure you could bolster them in your auto water change tank but that becomes to tiring. Switched to salt with higher numbers.
The bucket arrived absolutely coated in oils, residue from manufacturing I assume. That bucket was almost impossible to open to open, required a pry bar and hammer to get it open, which left the lid unable to properly seal again. The salt is not in a bag, so I had to transfer it to an old Red Sea bucket to keep it in a sealed container. Salt is salt, mostly it’s all pretty the much the same quality at this price point. The packaging does matter to a certain extent. So next time I’m not getting this one.
Switched from Tropic Marin Pro after a few years with it and have noticed zero negative effects in my tank over the last year on Neo Marine. I appreciate it’s American, always available, consistent.
I like getting the bag version, since I only have a nano reef tank so far. Easy to store and mixes quickly. The initial smell/cloudy water goes away in under hour for me.
Salt mixes very quickly, which is a definite plus. However, with every batch I make there seems to be quite a bit of residual gunk left in the bottom of the mixing bucket. Some of It even reflects light, which makes me wonder if there's very small metal particulates in this mix. Definitely won't be buying in the future.
This stuff is great. It uses Magnesium sulfate that will have a smell, but mix it and allow it to gas off per instructions, and all will be fine. It's natural sea water values has a lower alkalinity, which is perfect for kalkwasser dosing. I switched to this after getting the Tropic Marin bad batch and having a lack of availability. NeoMarin is made in Alabama, so I'm sticking with this. It mixes clear, and my tank is very happy.

started off great, mixes pretty well, not very dirty. My biggest complaint is my alkalinity and calcium rapidly dropped after a few months of using it. I will be on the hunt for a new salt mix that mixes closer to what I keep my parameters at.
Best salt I have ever used. Been using on my 250 reef tank never with an issue.
This salt mixes well and does well, but opening the bucket reveals a sulfer-like smell which smelled like someone passed gas. Nevertheless, I tried it. My tank was happy and clean, but had the same smell of someone passing gas, so I gave up on this salt and threw part of it away. Stinky stuff.
3 days later i have murky water and almost 1.5 times the suggested '1/2 cup per gallon' and my ph from my BRS RO/DI 5 stage water after using this product is 7.9. This was my first and last time buying this brand. Sounds like maybe a quality control issue as i am having the exact issue posted by Matt on 4/23. Waste of my hard-earned money.
Been using neomarine for 4 years in parallel with reef crystals in another tank. reef crystals have been consistent throughout the years. This stuff however has been declining with every batch. Extremely high turbidity after mixing 2 days with high powered pump. Do a water change and water is a fog for hours. In addition, a pile of insoluble solids at the bottom of a clean mixing barrel. I am done with neomarine and moving to reef crystals.
As Minh said in the previous review, it mixes up fast and it also matches my parameters. I will buy it again only this the the large bucket for 150 gallons. Regards Heinz
Man this salt mixes extremely fast clears up quickly!!! Leaves no residue in my mixing tanks and the price is extremely reasonable and to top it off matches my water parameters pretty close!!! Will most definitely buy again!!! Thanks Brightwell for making a quality salt!!!!
