The Loaner Underwater Quantum Meter Sensor Wand is an essential piece of equipment for accurately measuring Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) in saltwater aquariums. This sophisticated device is specifically designed for underwater PAR measurements, directly applying the sensor's immersion effect correction factor through its firmware for precise readings. It comprises a durable, waterproof quantum sensor connected by a waterproof cable to a user-friendly handheld meter, enabling thorough light analysis within your reef environment. Manufactured by Apogee Instruments, this quantum meter excels across various light sources, though LED users should note that post-measurement correction factors are needed for optimal accuracy with their specific lighting. The robust underwater sensor features a blue-enhanced silicon photodiode, custom optical filters, and a rugged anodized aluminum body with an acrylic diffuser. It offers both sample mode for up to 99 manual measurements and a log mode that records an integrated daily total in mol m-2 d-1, with data viewable on the LCD or downloadable to a computer for detailed analysis. This quantum meter is an invaluable tool for any saltwater aquarium enthusiast, particularly those maintaining coral reefs. By providing precise data on light intensity, it empowers hobbyists to fine-tune their lighting systems, ensuring corals receive the optimal PAR levels required for healthy growth and vibrant coloration. Whether you are setting up a new reef tank or optimizing an existing one, this sensor wand helps guarantee a thriving aquatic ecosystem by providing critical insights into your lighting parameters.
