Description
Liquid Gardens Cholla Wood is a natural aquascaping material derived from the hollow woody skeleton of the cholla cactus. This organic element adds a rustic, authentic touch to any aquarium environment, creating visual interest and texture. More than just decoration, its porous surface provides an excellent home for beneficial bacteria and biofilm to colonize, contributing to a healthier aquatic ecosystem.
Each piece of this all-natural wood measures approximately six inches in length. Since cholla is sourced directly from the outdoors, every piece is completely unique, featuring its own distinct combination of coloring, knots, curves, and hollows. This variation ensures that no two aquascapes will look the same, allowing for a truly personalized and naturalistic setup that mimics underwater habitats.
This product is especially beneficial for aquarists keeping freshwater shrimp or wood-eating plecos. Shrimp love to explore the hollows for shelter and graze on the biofilm that grows on the wood's surface. For wood-eating plecos, the cholla wood serves as an essential part of their diet, allowing them to rasp on it to aid their digestion. It encourages natural foraging and hiding behaviors, making it a functional and beautiful addition to a community tank.
