I’ve been fighting with this more than 2 years now. Every little disruption in my internet and it disconnects and won’t reconnect automatically like every other system I use ! I have to constantly reboot my whole house which is a huge pain and even then you have to go through a bunch of BS to get it working again if you’re lucky!! Kessil employs people who are only there to help people get reconnected. In my view that’s a red flag in and of itself ! And usually you have to wait a day for them to get back to you . I’m so sick of this thing now I’m getting ready to toss it and buy the controller! If I could give it 0 stars I would !! I l like Kessil lights but for the price they should work flawlessly! Looking back if I’d known what I was going to go through with this system, I would’ve got the radions. They work flawlessly on my other tank. My advice is don’t buy this!!

Have 4 Kessil A360x on my tank for 1year some issues getting set up. Make sure you back it up so you can do a reboot if needed. Moon phase needs some work but work good otherwise.

Hi read bad reviews but experienced nothing but smooth install. I set up m A360x through Apex Fusion using the Wifi Dongle and no issues.

I have 3 Kessil A360Xs and just picked up to automate my lighting. The setup took longer than expected but still accomplished to get it done in 10 minutes or so. It only connects to 2.4 GHz as an FYI. It does allow for different programming; however, still working out the kinks on how to tweek it. I think they could add a lot more features into the app, seems like an inexpensive brand light had more options in it's app. I get the proposition value of not having the wifi in every unit. If you are going that route as a company, I' expect for 100 bucks that the dongle would blow me away. I think because they still have the attachable controller, it limits what the wifi does. I think Kessil needs to get get thebone foot out of the past and go into the future. Otherwise, still a must have, fingers crossed for more firmware and software updates to bring more goodies.

I tried to like this Dongle but have given up. It disconnected many times and then wouldn't reload. I had to delete the App and reset the Dongle to factory settings countless times. I check in the morning and the lights are not on and the Dongle would not respond. Threw my hands up and purchased the Spectral Controller X, begrudgingly.

This product needs someone with a networking backgound to help them out. The protocol they are using to connect the app to the dongle while on your home network is the main problem. I couldn't get it to work on my home wifi. To make matters MUCH worse, their technical support is very slow and worthless so far. You need to wait 3-7 days to get a response from them and then you get worthless advice like "if your network auto assigns an IP address, try manually assigning an IP address. Their app provides no such way to assign an IP address to the Dongle. They are lucky their lights are so awesome. Their WiFI controller is not. I can't wait for Apex support.

It’s been 4 weeks now using the dongle. ZERO issues since the initial set up. I’m very pleased I went with the dongle over the wired controller. The multitude of wires was the main reason I switched from Kessil a few years ago. For anyone who had problems in the past with the dongle or the app, they may have been fixed. Same reason I always wait a few months for a new iPhone.

Had a few issues setting up, and the instructions in the app are minimal, but I figured it out. I had to reboot and start over twice, but eventually got it talking to my WiFi and it’s been reliable since (1 week anyway). Overall control is good, and the extra weather and moonlight options are interesting, but the biggest improvement is the additional color options with the dongle. So far, my coral seems pretty happy, and I’ve seen the hint of some new colors in two of my SPS. If you’ve already spent the kid’s college fund on Kessil lights, it’s a worthy upgrade. Just makes the lights more awesome!

I LOVE Kessil. I have 10 ap700 and 21 a360x. This dongle is a POS. It's overpriced, does not work on any phone without active cell coverage, does not work on ipads or any other wifi device without cell coverage and gps signal, looks god awful on top of your light, and is the biggest nightmare to setup over your wifi. Again, I LOVE Kessil lights, but their apps and wifi are absolute garbage. If you live in the middle of nowhere this will NOT work for you. If you have an old phone this will NOT work for you. If you plan on using with a wifi device that does not have cell service this will NOT work for you.

This definitely made controller your X's so much easier. I had no issues installing this via the app. I am annoyed by the constant "sign in with Facebook" screen but besides that it works great, simple to use and less wires on your setup. Definitely a must!

The app wasn't the most intuitive to get set up but once you figure it out it's really amazing. You can wirelessly control everything about your lights right from your phone or tablet. Kessil's implementation of WiFi control for its products has never been particularly great. That being said, this device and the Kessil application works. Looking past the cluncky and fail-prone 10+ minute syncing procedure, the device eventually provides a highly detailed interface to modify your groups and schedules as much as you could want to. For its next generation of lights, Kessil needs bring itself upto the control interface standards of all other major and even many minor brands. A WiFi dongle at nearly 1/5 the cost of the light in late 2019 is unacceptable. It takes away from the aesthetic of the fixture, creates additional potential fail-points, and is costly.
