The core of the gooseneck rusted from the inside out after 4 months. Th gooseneck and the light itself wer not even close to the water. At least 18 inches above the water line of the refugium.
This Gooseneck very strong. Love it
Works great with the Kessil lights, Easy to use and place
It's a nice and sturdy mount, however like a lot of other folks stated, I hate how Kessil can't find a better cable management system. It's crazy to drop a few hundred on your lights only to zip-tie the cables along the mount. The mount also puts stress on the glass, so be cautious of that. I also purchased the 90 degree adapter which SHOULD come standard with the mount already. Overall, good product.
Functional but not perfect - I have 2 goosenecks supporting my 360WE's on a standard 90g tank. The frame of the tank protrudes in a way to render these almost useless. They apply pressure to the frame to the point of bending it slightly. Aesthetics leave a LOT to be desired since there is no place to hide the wiring. 3 stars b/c they do work, just not great.
Love the lights mount looks good. However as stated by others they could solve where you end up when using the 90 mount a small notch would allow you to start and end up so lights are correctly mounted also a cable sleeve would have been nice they are so cheap they could have included one.
I'm very pleased with the light on my 50 gallon timeless reef setup.
i was pleased with the quality but I was a bit disappointed in the height of the unit. I have a 50 gallon cube and I wasn't able to get the light high enough off the water to extend the light spread across most of the tank. I ended up using a hanger that allowed me to raise the light above the water another view inches. This supplied a lot wider spread of light across the tank.
The idea and look are sound however I agree with most of the other reviews that there could be improvements. The wires for one should be hidden more effectively... certainly they could find a way to route them through the gooseneck. Secondly I bought the 90 degree option and they did not design the treads so that the lights turn to the "proper" or even the same location. This may seem like a nit but for the cost of the lights I would expect a little more attention to detail. I have two wide angles which have connections to the center but I have a third narrow beam which has a mount in the back of the light. If you use the 90 degree attachment the light is not centered on the gooseneck. I used washers to help alleviate this issue. One last thing is that the attachment screws for the bracket are too long. I had to cut them to fit since my tank is against a wall. Perhaps an assortment of screws could be supplied to suit different tank configurations.
Great mount for my A360WE. Easy to position and stays in place, easy to install. Great for an open-topped tank. My only suggestion is using a cable tie to hold the power cord to the gooseneck isn't the most attractive option - I'd rather see some sort of simple clips or sleeve to make the wiring look more finished.
I have two of these now, both holding up 160WE's. While they both work well, they don't hold their height/position well when going over a large horizontal distance. I am only able to achieve such a distance due to their 90deg adapter. I can't imagine it would be able to hold the larger/heavier kessil's in the positions I am holding my 160WE's in. My other gripe is with the plastic spacer that goes on the inside of the tank. It is too thick, it causes the weight to not only be placed a bit too far into the tank, it also forces you to have the bracket more visible due to it pushing into the tank. On my second one of these I ended up cutting the plastic spacer in half, and am MUCH happier. It allows my net to fit tighter, it makes the bracket less unsightly, and it also puts the gooseneck end directly over the glass. All in all, these flaws can be lived with because I don't see a much better alternative except hanging from the ceiling (which has other disadvantages, for example I could not get the light angle I am getting now). So yes, I would definitely recommend if needed in the right situation.
I originally had two radions which I got rid of due to lack of acceptable looking hanging options. Hands down the gooseneck is an easier and better looking way to hang a light. I thought about taking off a star based on not including the needed L bracket but decided against it as not everyone needs it (although if you have a larger tank you do) and it originally coming out after the gooseneck. I don't think this hanging option even with the L bracket is overpriced (unlike the cables) based off a direct comparison with radions.
I have not had a chance to use the fixture yet as I need a C bracket to use the mount with my A150W fixtures. The current product pictures clearly show the bracket yet it is not included. I had to make a call to Kessil and they are shipping the parts to me free of charge but I have to wait an additional week for the parts. Very frustration!!!
As others have stated, it should come with the 90 degree fitting. Also, be careful if you attach this to your aquarium!! With a 24" arm, the gooseneck gives you a LOT of leverage on your aquarium glass. Bumping your light could be disastrous. I've attached two wood beams to the back of my tank to attach my two Kessils to, instead of the aquarium glass.
I have 2 kessils with goosenecks on my 220 gallon reef. Looks way better than hanging from ceiling.
When the top of your tank is open, lighting has got to look good- this product lets that happen!
Sharp looking and very sturdy
The neck is great at holding the light. I got one with my A360we on my 60 cube and purchased another one to go with my A150 over another tank that I am in the process of setting up. They do well, just wish there was a better way to hide the cords.
We hung the lights both by ceiling then by gooseneck, The gooseneck is truly the better way. They are made better than I thought. A thought a little expensive, I would buy again.
I love the clean look you can create with the goose neck. only draw back is wire management, I was able to hide the wires along the neck pretty well but I feel like the could have some sort of sleeve to put the neck with the wires inside to have them completely hidden.
The visibility of the wires is no big deal to me. The fastener works well, the gooseneck does the job
Gooseneck is very easy to install at frag shows thanks bulkreef
awesome light ,gooose neck, adapter this light uses less electricity and gives m e my hobby back.
If your tank is 24" front to back then a gooseneck and adapter will put you right in the middle of a 24" X 24" area. If your tank is smaller than that you will have to offset the clamp to get the light where you want it. So no 90 degree installs. Also you will need an adapter. If you don't use the adapter than you will be to close to the water in most cases. I think that the neck is not long enough to be used without an adapter so maybe they could make them in different lengths??? They should include the adapter with the gooseneck as a complete package. Kind of feel like I was nickel and dimmed when buying these items. I still would recommend these for installation even if not mounted 90 degrees from back of tank. I just think they could improve on this design.
it was a little hard to bend at first but i have it in the perfect position now if you buy the kessil led defiantly recommended to pick this up with them and of course only from brs
I bought two of these with my A360s and am pleased with them. One is looser than the other and shifts on me a little after I adjust my lights, but it's mostly an annoyance. Wish they were a little stiffer though. The tank mount is well done though, hopefully it will hold up over time, mine sits right in the saltwater and I hope it doesn't corrode. I've had them for 6 months and no corrosion yet, so that's a good sign. The 90 degree adapters are a must to mount the lights at the height recommended by Kessil.
Needs the 90 degree bracket and a cord management system
Gooseneck worked just as advertised. I knew it didn't have a good cord management option from Ryan explaining in the video, but kessil knowing 2 cables are required to run one light (power & apex link) they should of designed the gooseneck to hide them instead of just providing zip ties. Built in cables would be nice.
I run these over my frag tanks and love the color. Only quam with the Kessil lights and controller is no moonlight function. Other than that great light and great colors on the corals.
Very Study Versatile SOLID Can't go wrong with this one, especially for Kessil lights... BRS definitely satisfied this customer satisfaction: SO SO SO good...
Very pleased with the quality of this product. I am however, a little disappointed that it doesn't come with the A150 bracket or the 90º adapter. I had to call Kessil's customer service to send me the a150 bracket (free of charge). Just keep that in mind if you currently have the a150. It is so strong that it's hard to bend the way you want it at first, but you have to "train" it with a bungie cord or some other sturdy string to meet desired curve/bend. Overall great product that is a must for any of the Kessil lights.
This is a sturdy mount for the A360 but needs some sort of wire management system.
My only complaint is that it's not made for a tank that's only 12" deep, because the arch is too narrow that it will straighten out a little bit.
Not the sleekest option, but it works. The cable management's only three zip ties so not going to achieve a discreet look.
If you buy a Kessil, you need one of theses. It just works.
I got this mount with he 90° adapter for my kessil A360 and I love the way it looks above my tank. Hanging my light wasn't an option due to vaulted ceilings, but this mount gives great flexibility in positioning the light above the tank. Seems very solid attached to the back of the tank, adding the 90° adapter makes it look even better!
Everything about it is simple, sleek, and flexible. Hanging this light was easy and it looks great.
Best and only option for mounting Kessil lighting. Sleek look. Could use better cable management options.
Makes me feel comfortable hanging my kessil lights. Almost so sturdy that it can be difficult to get two hangers to look the same on parallel lights, but I eventually was able to manage. Agree that it could use come cable management but since everything is black you hardly notice.
Using 2 of these on my 36"x16"x16" reef tank. A bit overkill but wow they are really nice. only using at 30% intensity. Attached to my Apex. Worked well right out of the box. Easy to program with Apex. Very satisfied!
This gooseneck is strong and sturdy but it is not as flexible as I would like to get it into position on my tank. I agree with other reviewers that have said a better cable management system would be a good addition.
Although the light it supports is pretty impressive and of high quality, the gooseneck fails to fall into the same high regards as the light. The only reassuring thing about it is that it is built by the same company, so it must support it for years, but only time will tell. However, it does have a very sturdy neck, but the plastic screws could be ...well, not plastic. However all around it is perfectly made for what it is intended to do and it does it perfectly. Not 5 Stars for the plastic screws.
The product itself is of great quality - from what I can tell. Sturdy, just the right length, fits perfectly, however... I think it's a bit ugly, especially with the wires wrapped around. I really think Kessil should have ether made a hollow tube or made the gooseneck be the connector itself some way. I just got it so will give more of detailed opinion if I end up using em.
Best mount for the kessil light I have used.
Nice design. Good quality. Simple and easy setup. This is all you need to get the work done!
When looking at the Goosneck by Kessil, I was wondering about it's ability to hold up after a long period of time. meaning the rod losing it's rigidness after some time due to use. However, the Goosneck is very strong and you know it will last a long time. Great product
these goosenecks work great for my new kessil 360s they are very well built and are nice and flexible to adjust light to certain area of the tank! just need a conduit to channel the wires and the would be really classy!
The mount is simple and secure. You get a few black tie wraps for cable management - I would like to have seen a more engineered solution. My only other complaint is that it doesn't quite bend over far enough to point straight down at the center of a 12" wide tank when mounted on the tank's back wall. An 18" wide tank would be no problem. I'm using a chain of tie-wraps to hold the gooseneck in its fully doubled-over position. This easily beats hanging from the ceiling, though. I'm satisfied.
This gooseneck looks great on my tank. Holds Kessil light in perfect position.
Gooseneck is easy to mount on many tanks. Screws into kessil (and mount) tight.very flexible but firm enough to hold at any angle. Seems quite sealed to prevent corrosion.
Of the three different brands of lights I have used so far, this is by far the most cost-effective and 'slick' mount I have used. Simple install, simple clean functionality and for the price, you can't beat it. I'd recommend this to any Kessil owner!
Great product! Nice construction and very strong. Beats hanging the lights from the ceiling and it looks great!
