The Kessil A80 Tuna Blue LED Fixture is a compact and efficient lighting solution designed specifically for saltwater reef aquariums. Delivering half the intensity of the popular A160 model, it incorporates the same advanced features, including precise color and intensity control knobs. This light utilizes Kessil's Dense Matrix LED technology to provide powerful light penetration, smooth color mixing, and the signature natural shimmer effect that mimics sunlight on the ocean floor, promoting vibrant coral health and growth in a small form factor.
This fixture boasts a unique shell-shaped design that serves as a highly effective, passive heatsink, eliminating the need for a cooling fan and ensuring completely silent operation. Measuring just 4.88 inches in diameter and under an inch tall, the A80 consumes a mere 15 watts of power. For expanded setups, multiple A80 lights can be daisy-chained together for seamless, unified control from a single source, simplifying the management of larger or custom-shaped nano aquariums. Mounting is versatile, with options for a Mini Gooseneck or a top-mounted canopy adapter.
The Kessil A80 Tuna Blue is the ideal choice for hobbyists with small nano reef tanks or entry-level low-light reef systems. Its coverage area ranges from 14 inches for medium-light demand corals to over 20 inches for low-light corals and fish-only setups. Its silent operation, low power consumption, and controllable spectrum make it perfect for aquarists seeking a premium, unobtrusive lighting system for smaller aquariums without compromising on quality or performance.

I have 1 on my Long 20 gallon which has an AOI. Amazing how 1 covers 24 inches. If you have an AOI in a 20 gallon tank, you will ONLY need 1 in the center. Best purchase. I had owned AI hydra 26, this are AMAZING.
I have this hanging 4" above a 2.6g Fluval Spec III mixed reef. The PAR numbers were ridiculous - over 300 in the middle of the tank and 170+ on the sandbed at full power. Successfully grew a variety of SPS and LPS corals over the course of a year, and the shimmer is undeniably beautiful!
Got this to replace to replace the Red Sea 50w nightmare, over my JBJ 20 gal frag tank (24 x 20 x 9"). Couldn't be happier, no app to have not work. I was looking for a light with app capability, but only as an add-on. This light is great, simple mounting, quick and easy adjustment with two knobs, just what I was looking for. bought the gooseneck mount to go with it. May get the dongle later for the other features. Gonna just enjoy the simplicity, for a while, Oh, and now I know what they mean by the "Kessil Shimmer" I just got the email that my 2, 15 gallon IM cubes will be on their way to me today, so i will be buying two more of these lights, that's how happy I am with this product. Thank you Kessil and BRS for a simple quality product!
I honestly tried this light to avoid paying more money. Boy was I surprised. Great light and dang near impossible to mess up. I love the Kessil logic that keeps spectrum mixed perfectly for you. Definitely not for anything bigger than a 15 cube though. Great light and awesome customer service.
I have two of these lights set up on my nano tanks. The shimmer is undeniably Kessil trademark and no one does it better. Add the controller and it takes this light to new heights. It is easily growing LPS coral. Kessil will be my choice for Nano tanks from here on out.
Was led to believe multiples would suffice for sps. I have 3 of em now. Not a total waste. I have other projects in mind so 450 bucks doesn't sit here and rot. For what it is it definitely has a good performance and visually it's awesome. Just not hitting where I needed to. My mts is ab to take over. For 5 and 10g tanks this would be a sweet little nano light just perfect without having to drop money on a prime type of light.
Great form factor with superb color and build quality. My beef is that kessil over rates this light's ability. I was led to believe it would suffice for 22.5 g nano cube, which is 17" cubed. I found it's not enough. So I added another a80....and guess what, it's still not enough. Now I'm adding a 15in reef brite strip light to reduce shadows and increase the par. If I were to do it over, I wouldn't get this light for anything larger than a 12" cube tank. I bought the spectral controller and daisy chained the two together. It's a beautiful transition over the day, but the damn this is $100....for a dimmer controller. Only get this light if you have a tiny tank.
Light is great for a nano tank, not for anything bigger than 15 gal. Adjusting spectrum is always great and simple with Kessil. In typical Kessil fashion you need multiple if you want nice spread (better for cubes) and it does not include WiFi or bluetooth so it has to be put on a timer. Don't expect more than this light can put out and you won't be disappointed.
I have this on a little desktop Waterbox 6 gal nano tank on the gooseneck mount. It seems to be the perfect match for the tank. I have acans, zoas, GSP, a hammer, and a lepto. I love the 2 easy dials on the top. I used the acans as my indicator for adjusting the intensity, which I've settled at about 70%. All of the corals look to be very happy with that. The tank looks amazing at every point on the color dial but It would be amazing if the light had a simple timer built in but I just got a $10 outlet timer on which works well.
I have been running this light over my evo 13.5 gal tank all LPS coral gives a great shimmer never had one issue with the light I have it on a cheap timer best light out there for just over 100 dollars
Have 2 over my IM Nuvo 20 for about 18 months so far. Lights the take well and shimmer is amazing. Mixed reef with few SPS up top and all are happy. Quiet and clean look. Started just by plugging in to a cheap timer and set the color and intensity manually and so easy to get set up. Upgraded to the Kessil controller to ramp up and down. Was also very easy to get that going.
Great light huge spread of light had it on my 24x24x24 frag tank for lps and did great !
A80 Tuna Blue Unit quit after 90 days, replacement unit quit after two weeks. Service dept is great, but product doesn't seem to work well. Waiting on second replacement. Don't know how this is my fault. Nice light but cannot get it to work.
I have had a few LED fixtures in the past, including Kessil A160s. Those light were great, but the fan noise was too much for the wife. These A80s are passively cooled, so no more fan noise! They are about half the wattage of the A160, so you'll need two of them instead of one, but silence is golden.
Very good light. So much better than stock on my 32 bio. Just wish it had WiFi. So u didn't have to buy the controller. But other than that. And there is no fan. So there is no noise. Very pleased with this light
Used this on a Nuvo 10 Fusion for the past 11 month and have seen great growth from LPS/ anemones/ and some encrusting corals. I was not super confident in it being able to do higher light req SPS so I did not try. I was using it with the spectral controller so that way it would ramp up and down throughout the day highest point being 10% / 90% blue. The shimmer and color are great for the light. I just upgraded my lighting to a xr-15 in preparation for a lagoon 25, and when that happens I will use this light again on the 10gal which will become the quarantine.
This light looks like it was custom made for the Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion 10. Very sleek, enough power some simple sps and about anything else that requires less light. Has that Kessil shimmer. Nothing like it.
This light makes the tank look awesome with its perfect color blending and shimmer. I wish there was a narrow angle version so I could mount two on my 20 long and not have any light spill over.
Bought this to go with my I.M. 10 Nuvo. Seems like a perfect match. Great color and coverage. Down side, have to buy the goose neck. Overall time will tell.
Growing birds nest and pagoda cup corals so far under this little bugger. I have it over my 40 breeder sump with the supplied bracket. depth from light to corals is about 14"-18" away. The corals are about three to six inches below the water surface. Will buy another one. Apex controlled for lighting schedule.
I just got this light in the mail today. My tank is currently cycle so no livestock to see how it grows corals, but will update in a few months when i can report on that. So far the light looks awesome and produces a nice shine in the tank. Tip: if you order the light after set up like me, make sure you have about two inches of space between the back glass of the tank and the wall you are putting the tank against.
I bought this light the weekend that they first had it it has been overall amazing on my JBJ 28gallon anemone cube!
Put this in my refugium that I'm using to grow out xenia as a nutrient export. I like that it doesn't have a fan to create additional noise. The xenia is doing well and it is also maintaining my temporary frag rack and mangroves until I find a better spot for them.
Currently running this light over a 10 gallon tank at work. The A80 is able to put out more than enough light at any color intensity to keep my SPS and LPS corals happy. Works well for Acropora and Monitoporas, the color of my Acans is really nice when the color is low. The controller is a must-have if you want to grow any coral. The controller allows you to set 6 time-stamps to adjust your intensity/color. It also has a built-in acclimation process that allows you to set a starting power output and adjust the number of days the coral acclimates to the light from between 1-14 days. Very nice product, 10/10 would buy again. I'll definitely be running more kessil's in my house now.
I'm currently running this light over my quarantine tank. Wanted to stick with a kessil but at a lower cost than my a360's (which I'm running on my DT) for a quarantine system. Right now, I have a few softies, LPS and SPS corals in my quarantine, and they all seem to like it. As Ryan says in the videos, due to the spectrum of the kessils, it makes it hard to mess up. I love the simplicity!!
