The Kessil H160 Tuna Flora LED Algae Grow Light is a powerful and efficient lighting solution specifically engineered to cultivate a thriving refugium. Leveraging Kessil's renowned Dense Matrix LED technology, this light provides a concentrated and perfectly blended spectrum designed to maximize algae growth, effectively assisting in nutrient reduction for your saltwater aquarium. It builds upon Kessil's legacy of high-performance refugium lighting, ensuring optimal conditions for a healthier reef environment. This innovative LED light boasts a tunable spectrum with four distinct settings—Blue, Grow, Bloom, and Red—allowing you to customize the light to suit specific algae types and growth phases. Intensity is fully controllable through onboard dials or an optional 0-10V controller, offering precise command over your refugium's lighting schedule. With a maximum spread of 24" x 24" and a recommended spread of 18" x 18", its compact and energy-efficient 40W design includes an advanced thermal system for long-lasting performance. Ideal for any reef keeper aiming to enhance their aquarium's filtration capabilities through a robust refugium, the Kessil H160 Tuna Flora provides the dedicated spectrum and intensity needed for superior algae cultivation. By promoting vigorous macroalgae growth, this light empowers even smaller refugiums to significantly contribute to nutrient export, leading to a more stable and pristine main display tank. It is an essential tool for maintaining crystal-clear water and supporting the overall health of your delicate reef ecosystem.

Thing maybe lasted 5 months… wouldn’t even roll the dice on it
I really liked this light and my Chaeto responded very well. Unfortunately after about two months I noticed some rust around the gooseneck mounting hardware. My sump area occasionally has some water mist and it looks like it reached the light. About three months in the light was hard to adjust without it shorting and after 6 months the light no longer works. I think the light is great, but if there is mist or any water splashing in the area the light is mounted, this light is probably not going to last long.
I bought this one year and one month ago. The grow light started flickering and then went out. Now only the bloom setting works.
I left my RODI water on in my sump overnight and it came close to an inch from the top. The Kessil LED refugium light was halfway submerged. I let it dry out for a day, and now it works like nothing ever happened! Great product and definitely worth the money!
This is my first kessil product. Light began flickering. Reporedt to Kessil. They claim it is showing signs of shorting out. Had to send it for replacement.
Growing chaeto very well . Love the adjustability. I had an issue with my skimmer going crazy and the light got a heavy splashing with salt water over an entire night. Still working fine! I took off the outer shell to clean and inspect and was amazed to see how well everything was protected! Hardly a drop made it internally!
Ive had the fixture up and running a few weeks now and my chaetomorpha has almost doubled in size despite the fact that I already had fairly low nitrates in the tank. I would not recommend this fixture if your sump is not enclosed due to the effect on one's eyes from the interaction aquarium display light and the red light of the grow light.
Great for growing Chaeto. I prefer this light over the H380 because the intensity and color can be adjusted. I don’t want to pay for another 90 watts running for several hours a day when I don’t need that much power for my shallow refugium.
In the process of cycling an 80 gallon Red Sea tank with sump. Set up refugium hang on box in the sump d/t no room elsewhere and got the light. Put a tennis ball sized ball of chaeto from algae barn in there and the light on 40% for 12 hrs per day. It’s tripled in size in 5 days. Furthermore, I am doing a fishless cycle so nothing else has been added to the tank except ammonia. (Have dosed 3 times now to 2ppm). From the charts, nitrates should be 20-25 now. However, they are 5. I wonder where they went? Maybe that massive living chaeto ball? Furthermore, I started off running gfo and phosphates were initially zero. They still are. In fact, to save an outlet I ran my reactor pump line directly to the refugium after the water has been sent through th gfo. There is no phosphate for the chaeto to use so it definitely can be grown using a gfo reactor with this light. I’m admittedly amazed. I cannot wait for my cycle to completely end so I can add some pods to this green forest I am growing. Totally worth the price. Don’t skimp on your refugium light.
Best grow light I’ve ever used for my chaetomorpha!
