I feel like this is the best lighting solution so far for me and my fin friends. I was impressed with the directions as they were easy to follow and written for the layperson. The software is intuitive and so much fun to play with. I ended up just going with the standard set up for about the first 3 months and then tailored the lighting to fit the tank's needs (added new corals). They mounted beautifully as I made sure I had the right light with the proper mounting hardware before I ordered it. In fact I called and talked to Customer Service before plunking down my credit card and it worked wonderfully. Thanks BRS! You all rock :)
The good: * Coverage is excellent. I have one centered on a 75g with a 3" brace with no apparent shadow @8" height. You can pass your hand underneath and only notice a faint shadow. I'm sure a par meter would give more definitive metrics. * light is strong, but haven't measured par yet. * ability to reset wifi fairly easy unlike other devices where Congress has to be notified before you can reset the wifi configuration. * several cloud programs, but you can't use them in power saving mode. The bad: * software. The app is terrible and will take multiple time to connect. I even had it disappear after setup but it stilled appeared to be connected to wifi in the device. * mounting solution out of the box is for smaller tanks or rimless. The mount will not work on a 75g or larger. It's extremely disappointing that they couldn't get a simple thing like mount versatility correct. * they have two apps out there, only the cloud version worked for me. Getting a little tired of cloud this, and cloud that. I purchased it, it's mine and privacy should not be compromised. The inability for me to get this easily running out of the box without Jerry rigging or having to reset a dozen times leads me to give it an average review. They have other devices that would score better in this area.
They look a little too futuristic for my setup but well worth it. Amazing lights.
I bought two of these lights and from a performance and manufacturing perspective they are well worth the cost. The only issues is the light does not have detailed operation instructions. You will be on your own to figure out all of the things you can do with the light once you pair it to the App. I anticipate that the team at BRS will offer video guidance for these lights in the future.
Bought three of these. The PAR is insane and color spectrums are on tap. The cloud cover feature is amazing too. Really like these and seeing new growth on my SPS.
