This product is an absolute must-have with Euphyllia and Fimbriaphyllia. I had Brown Jelly Disease in January 2023, I had to treat the tank twice with Chemi-Clean to stop it. Ever since I started dosing Eco-Balance I haven't had any issues with BJD.
Eco-Balance doesn't get a lot of attention compared to Dr. Tim's other products but it should - I am a believer in the effectiveness of this product. I had fought a brown bacterial goo (not Dinos, but nasty) on my rock work for nearly a year. On top of that I recently had a cyano outbreak on the sand bed that would quickly return after siphoning. I started dosing Eco-Balance weekly and after four weeks both of my issues were completely gone. The heterotrophic bacteria outcompeted or destroyed the offenders and I am grateful. In my situation, I found more success in turning off my return pump and letting it swirl in the display for at least an hour. That way the bacteria have time to adhere to the surfaces of the rock instead of the sump and equipment. I also turned off my skimmer and UV for 24 hours. No product will solve all your problems but I certainly plan to use this one as part of my tank maintenance routine!
I've suspected I've had bacterial issues in my main display for awhile now - but recently I added some new GFO to lower my p04, and it started base-STN on a giant colony, which slowly continued even after removal of GFO & detectable levels of P04 in the water. I went out on a limb to try this stuff, as it says it inhibits Vibrio growth. I took a page out of Triton's method of applying STN-X by removing 1 Liter of water and mixing 1/2 a dose of Eco Balance (~150 mL) and letting it sit for an hour. After, I stopped all flow and carefully spread the mixture at the site of the STN with a turkey baster. (It took awhile). Since then I've dosed the weekly dosage (at 1/2 dose) and the STN has stopped & is currently regrowing. I will be incorporating this in my weekly routine now.
