The Bubble Magus Curve 5 Elite is a high-performance, value-packed protein skimmer designed to efficiently remove dissolved organic compounds from your saltwater aquarium. Built with high-quality materials and an approachable design, this skimmer helps maintain pristine water quality, promoting a healthier environment for your fish and corals. Its reliable performance and easy setup make it an excellent choice for keeping your reef tank clean and stable.
This skimmer is powered by a famously quiet and reliable Sicce SK-200 needle-wheel pump, which produces a consistent air draw of 300 LPH to generate a dense, waste-extracting foam. Key features include a precision-geared water level adjustment knob for effortless and accurate tuning, and a clear cast acrylic body that completely disassembles for thorough cleaning. With a compact footprint of just 7.28" x 7.08", it fits easily into most sumps, while vibration-reducing feet ensure silent operation. The easy-to-remove collection cup also includes a built-in drain port for less frequent maintenance.
Ideal for reef hobbyists seeking a competitive and high-value filtration solution, the Curve 5 Elite is perfectly suited for a range of aquarium sizes. It can effectively handle a lightly stocked 125-gallon tank, a medium bioload 100-gallon system, or a heavily stocked 75-gallon reef, which is the most common application. The combination of user-friendly features, quality components, and thoughtful design makes it a top contender for aquarists who want consistent, worry-free performance without a premium price.

Well I had this thing for around 11 months. Worked great for the first 7 but after that it went down hill. Tried everything. Water levels, placement, air. Nothing worked. Tried contacting them 3 times. Twice on the website and once an email which got kicked back. Done with it.
I’ve had mine running 24/7 for over a year on a heavy biomass 50 gallon in 9.5” of water for over a year. This skimmer is easy to adjust and has worked consistently well since day 1.
This is my 3rd brand of skimmers and it is by far the best I've ever had. Works perfectly and is very easy to disassemble for thorough cleaning. Five star product all the way.
This skimmer is simple and just works. Easy to setup and tune. Skims like a beast! Also is super quiet. Definitely recommend!
I've had mine for 6+years have had it on multiple tanks from 60 - 120 gals and it works like a charm. Minimal maintenance required & simple design. Little to no break in time.
Replaced a Coralife skimmer that ran for 8 years. This skimmer had no break in period. Started pulling skimmate day one. I would recommend this hands down.
For the price, it does it's job. Long break in period and finicky adjustment dial. If you're looking to save some money this is not a terrible option. Might regret it long term, though.
Great compact design for smaller sumps. Was easy to assemble which will make it easy to clean. Pulled skimmate from the tank immediately and adjustment is super easy. Might add an air adjustment valve but so far it works better than my previous 2 skimmers.
I’ve had this skimmer for 4 months now. I can’t complain. I do have it at its max gate setting and water height. It works good. Created skimate within 3-4 days of use. Easy to clean. Super quiet.
I tried everything to get this thing to work. It pulls really good for a few days then it just overflows or completely stops pulling anything. I've been fiddling with it for over a year. I don't understand how these things cost so much and suck so bad -___-
As mentioned in the other review, there was a long breakin period. After that, in 2 months, I’ve collected actual skimmate maybe around 3 times. Most of the time I set it and leave it looking good only to come home to it overflowing or leveling out way under where it was set. There is only 1 setting to be controlled, and it isn’t able to reliably control anything. I hope I can figure out what makes it tick because I am very disappointed….
Takes about 2-2.5 weeks to break in. Be patient and let it overflow into your sump by removing the drain hose at the 90 located at the base of the collection cup. It will pull right off. Since it’s not technically “skimming” yet it won’t worsen your water quality. Sometimes the collection cup likes to fill with foam during the break in period, so keep an eye on everything as it breaks itself in. The only complaint I have with this skimmer is the long break in period. Which really isn’t a big deal to me. Is a 2 week break in period really all that long for tank you plan on running for years? I think not. The Sicce Pump is silent and so is the air intake. I can’t hear a thing. Definitely will keep this brand close as the simplicity, reliability, and price point are what sold me. Plus my LFS swears by them. Thanks BRS for adding this great line of skimmers.
