Red Sea Coral Pro Salt Mix is a premium-grade, naturally harvested reef salt from the Red Sea, specifically formulated for saltwater aquariums. It is designed to provide elevated and balanced levels of foundation elements, along with necessary minor and trace elements, to support optimal coral growth and overall reef health. This salt mix ensures a stable and thriving environment for corals by emulating natural seawater conditions.
This advanced formula boasts elevated levels of Calcium, Alkalinity (12 dKH), and Magnesium, which are critical for coral structural integrity and biological functions, including skeleton formation and photosynthesis. It ensures pH stability and enhances various biological processes. The mix is enriched with over 70 trace elements and dissolves quickly, making water changes efficient and hassle-free without requiring post-water-change adjustments.
Red Sea Coral Pro Salt Mix is ideal for mixed reef aquariums and SPS frag tanks that benefit from higher alkalinity and consistent elemental supply. It provides a continuous and healthy coral growth environment, overcoming the limitations of closed system aquariums and ensuring robust reef sustainability without the need for frequent adjustments. Its comprehensive composition supports both new and established reef systems.

Been using for less than a year on our newly setup SPS 180g DT and have seen great growth a few corals growing from nothing more than a dot on the plug that I decided to try and save because the frag broke up during shipping. Great Salt Great Performance
Very consistent. Good price.
I started using this salt about 3 years ago when I started keeping coral and it has remained consistent through the years. Coming from Instant Ocean for FOWLR set ups, it was a drastic improvement on mixing and clarity. I can measure the same weight every time and get my mix almost exactly the same salinity every time. Elements are as described and I am able to use water changes to maintain CA, Mg, etc to desired levels. Had won free salt from Waterbox about a year ago and started to switch and stopped after two water changes. Waterbox was very inconsistent and took forever to mix in comparison. Both my mixed reef and anemone tank are thriving with this salt and I will keep using it as long as it is available.
I have been using this salt for about 3 years now and only 1 time I got problems w parameters when mixing. I pull the bag out of the bucket and I turn it around several times for the problem to be gone. I always scoop 1cup for mixing and I get good results.
I'll update as soon as my tank is converted. First time user. Mixes almost instantly. This stuff should be called instant ocean. The clarity was unreal. Io took well over 24 hrs for me to mix. I switched from reef crystals to regular io to this. Idk why I didn't just bite the bullet and get this. Corals seemed to like it when I dumped it in the tank. Let's see if it continues to impress. Will prolly never look away from red sea products now.
I have admittedly only been using this salt recently (last 6 months), but have seen stable MG, ALK, and CA since switching. No complaints. Good value.
switched to red sea and have been extremely happy. it mixes well, holds its parameters for my automatic water changes. Corals are happy and vibrant
I am coming from reef crystals. And im not going back. This is some great salt. I read the reviews and decided to give it a shot. I bought the 175 gallon bucket and BRS ships it in a nice inclosed box to protect it during shipping which is great. It mixes fast and doesn't have huge particles when mixing. I haven't had a problem with color or any thing out of the ordinary with the salt. Just works which I love. Will definitely be buying more when I need it.
I've been using Reef Crystals for my SPS tank for the past 10+ years. It did everything that I needed it to do. Mixed easy, corals looked good, efficiently priced. Over the last couple of years my polyp extension and growth have slowed. Kept tried fiddling with different ideas. A few months ago I decided to pony up and go for the extra money and switch to Red Sea Coral Pro. I figured that the reviews looked good and that I'd give it a chance. I've now completed about 4 of my regular 10%-15% water changes and man o man, my corals are looking great! I see better polyp extension and just about all of my sps are experiencing better growth. The biggest surprise was that my 8 year old RBTA split from 1 to 4! Maybe it has nothing to do with the salt...or maybe it does? It will be Red Sea for me going foward!
It does what it says and mixes to what it says. Bucket was busted up but still seals. BRS did put it in a box with styrofoam on top and bottom but they need to surround it with something too. Still they tried unlike Amazon who just ships the bare bucket. Great pricing here too. Fast free shipping for me.
Ordering my salt from BRS for the first time, I was sceptical. Alot of reviews saying broken buckets and what not. But the closest LFS that carries Red Sea Coral Pro to me is way out of my way. Ordered and 4 days later it shows up on time, and contents are all intact. I like the black lid coral pro because it maintains the higher levels I try and keep. Definitely worth the reorder for me.
I have a 29 gallon nano reef. I've been using this salt mix from the get go. I've explored information on a few other brands but from a standpoint of my magnesium, calcium, iodine, and other trace element, my testing has always been consistent and spot on.
This salt is great I’ve used others and the color and groth is by far the best woth this salt!
I have used another brand for over 20 years and was very hesitant on switching over due to some of the reviews that I read. I have been using this for 6 months now and it is amazing the difference it has made in my tank. Everything in the tank is growing nicely. One example of a growth spurt that I have had is in a small birds nest that I purchased that was just about dead. I was looking for a few emerald crabs at a LFS and they were all inside this skeleton of a birds nest that had one small stem, about 1/2" with 3 small fingers, still living that we could see. Gave them a few $'s for the ball and placed it in the tank and all the crabs left it. With my lighting I could see there were a couple of other stems that had a few polyps on them. 6 months later they had grown a little, but not much. I switched over to this in Aug. '18 and the growth that has happened has been unreal throughout the tank. However the birds nest is what has astonished me more then any of the others. New Years day 2019, I was able to trim the dead parts off and have 5 frags that are all over 1 1/2" each with a total of 83 fingers and growing. The only downside I have to it is not being able to make it the night before I am going to do my changes. They say to make it within a 4 hour window prior to use due to the mix getting cloudy after 4 hours This adds a little extra time to my maintenance time but its worth it seeing the growth that I am getting from everything in the tank. YES, I highly recommend this salt!
I have had great success with this salt; I am writing to recommend the 200 gallon package because it seems to have little to no of the binding clay that the smaller packs do; it clumps a tiny bit in the bag but no big deal. I find that this packaging results in no brown buildup on the walls of my mixing reservoir, which has developed when I bought the 175 gallon bucket. I'd be interested if others find this, too.
I have tried many salts over a decade plus of reefing. This is one of my favs. I like elevated levels and love how it doesn't clump. It does mix cloudy but overall I love it. My fav part is you can feel the magnesium heat up as it mixes. This is the best salt until you get into lab grade synthetic salts. BRS always delivers and I only feel bad for the UPS man.
Love this salt. Dissolves quickly and levels are as noted by Red Sea, which works well for my tank given I want accelerated growth.
Fast Dissolve Time Coral Love It!
I was nervous after reading reviews about shipping, especially since i was looking at the 175 gallon bucket. Came to the house perfect, mixed great even with just pouring it into my circulation pumps on my new setup. Water parameters were spot on. Will be ordering again.
great product by far best mix salt for me
One of the best sea mix.
mixes well!
product would definitely recommend this salt to anyone
Started out on this salt tried io but got a major algae outbreak came back to red Sea and all is well again.
This salt mixes perfectly clear and my corals are thriving! By far my favorite salt mix to use yet!
i started out using reef crystals. The tank had no coraline after a year. I switched to this and three years later the tank is covered in coraline. I use coraline as an indicator the tank is ready for sps. After switching it took about 2 months to see some and i added a birdsnest. Wish i had started my tank with this.
Not sure what these guys are complaining about especially cloudy water. My water is crystal clear, corals large and healthy. Salt dissolves immediately! To the genius William, it does not say do not use over 77 degrees, it says bring temp up to 77 then test. Also it does not say not to use a pump it says mix vigorously do not AERATE. Using a pump to mix is not aeration. Before leaving reviews you should know what you're doing 1st or be able to read correctly.
I have always used this Salt on my Tank without Issues. My Cal, Alk, and Mag have always been within range. I heat a 5 gallon bucket to about 77F, and then use about 2 and a half cups to reach 1.025 salinity. The only issue I have is it does leave some residue on the bucket. I have yet to have anything stick on my heater. But this is minor and I'm not about to change my salt for this reason.
Never a problem mixing crystal clear water using coral pro. 8 cups exactly in my mixing Daryl gets me perfect results each and every time. Highly recommend
3 CUPS = 5 Gallons of RO water of exact 1.025 Sal !!!! Calcium spot on 450ppm, Mag spot on 1300 ppm. I read the instruction hence I never failed.
Great salt mix. Parameter have stayed stable.
A fantastic salt. Anyone who is unfamiliar, each bucket comes with a batch number on the lid that you can enter online to see the full lab analysis. Red Sea considers their process accurate enough to use as a "standard solution" - meaning, you can check the accuracy of your tests by simply adding a carefully weighed amount of salt to a carefully measured volume of RODI water and comparing this against the batch-specific lab results. Heck, if you're really particular about your parameters - you can check the batch values of each shipment of salt at your LFS then stock up when the time is right. Genius, well done Red Sea!
Setting up a new 90 gallon tank. Premixed in my mixing station. Noticed just a bit settled in the mixing tank. Over the last two weeks, have had to twice add about 1/2 of a cup of salt to keep the levels at optimal. But that's on a new tank with dry sand, dry rock and just a bit of live sand. Very happy with it so far. Cycle is right on track. I like that it has all the assorted minerals already to go in the bucket. Big believer in the KISS method. Buy this salt with confidence.
By far the best salt I've ever used. I've tried reef crystals and crystal sea and this salt by far is better.
Switched to this from an instant ocean brand and my corals are looking better than ever, and I like how the salt doesn't have to sit all night to mix up properly!
I've been using it for 3 years. Easy to use and consistent results.
High quality salt mix. You get what you pay for. I can say I have jad a few alkalinity and magnesium but nothing above what that bucket displays.
Used for a while with no issues. Easy to mix with water, just make sure you use the right amount.
Ok I used Salt Crystals for forever. I started seeing a decline in my reef. Tested and dosed different Trace Elements and no improvement. I can say I did a routine 30% water change with Red Sea Coral Pro Salt Mix and immediately saw great results. My SPS never looked better. I'm Sold for life.
I have tried several different brands all needing several hours or overnight to clear up before adding to the tank. Red Sea Coral Pro Salt Mix mixes clear. I brought the mix to temp in an hour and the mix was very clear. Great salt.
I have used many brands in the the 14 or so years of keeping saltwater tanks. I have been using RS Coral Pro for just under a year now and I am happy with the results. Previously, I was using Aquavitro Salinity, with good results as well, but the RSCP is less expensive. First off, I want to address the storage time frame. I fill a 32 gallon Brute trash can with 25 gallons of fresh RO/DI water. Second, I put a heater and a powerhead in the mixing can. I slowly add the desired amount, I keep my tanks at 1.026 or 35 ppt, and I do this approximately 24 hours before my water changes. I have never had precipitation in my mixing vat or my tank. My tank is always crystal clear. I have great growth with , soft, LPS, SPS, and clams. I do a 25gal water change on my 90gal tank every week. I only dose 2 part once a week, usually mid week between water changes. That is what I do. I like this salt and I am sure you will too.
I love this salt. I was using IO salt mix before and had to test my water so many times to adjust my parameters. We red sea salt pro testing is limited and i do not have to wait 24 hours to use. My corals and fish are alway happy!!! And i spend less time on maintenance. More time to enjoy my tanks.
I have been using Red Sea Pro for over a year now and I can say that this product is vital to a successful reef aquarium. I find that just a 7-10% water change weekly drastically affects my coral in a positive way. This product mixes clear and fast. Although I dose 2 part to keep up w/ massive SPS colonies, the micro elements contained in this natural salt keep up w/ what is hard to test for and evaluate. Highly trust.
Just mixed, 75 gallons last night,, found it takes about 1 cup per gallon (guesstimate) to achieve 1.026 salinity,, mixes clear in a 5 gallon bucket in about 10 minutes with a powerhead,, I left it mixing for about 45 minutes,,, great product,, highly recommend
First off i'll start by giving shout out to REDSEA MACNA 2016. These guys are awesome. Extremely knowledgable and helpful. I have been using IO Reef Crystals for 2 months mostly due to the low cost with not much success. I was given a free bucket of coral pro salt at MACNA from the Red Sea guys. I have been using it for a couple weeks now and have seen a huge difference in my coral coloration. My tank parameters seem to be a bit more stable overall but only time will tell. The salt mixes really fast compared to IO. Within an hour the water is clear. IO takes the entire day to mix and still a little cloudy. Also I have noticed that the parameters reflect what the bucket has on it. Not so much for the IO although reef crystals is not bad for the price. One more thing to note is my IO seemed to have a nasty brown sludge buildup on the surface of the water. I have used IO in the past and had the same problem. Probably will not notice this in a small 5 gallon mix but if mixed in a larger container for a day or two you may notice it. Either way I highly recommend the Red Sea coral pro salt ONLY IF you can afford it. Otherwise I would go with IO.
I have been using this slat mix now for 7 months and my fish and corals love it. It is very easy to mix and convinent as you do not have to let it sit for 24 hours to add it to your tank. I mix mine usually for about an hour.
This is long, but I have to share. So I cycled my tank with IO Reef Crystals... But then I kept using it for some reason... Even though my water was "safe," (no ammonia, nitrite, etc), my reef parameters were always a little off no matter what I did.... Corals were doing poorly even with dosing and my ph and salinity was always hovering lower than I wanted, but within range. I didn't expect crazy algae since I was running a Phosban reactor, but I had terrible algae and cyano I had to constantly fight.... My water was milky and I didn't know why... I was losing my brain, but my friend suggested changing salt. I decided to get a uv sterilizer instead. It kind of worked to clear it up, but still a little hazy. I said... Alright fine, I'm changing the salt. Can it get much worse in the rectangular shaped money pit? (Wait, don't answer that) ................ My tank was completely CRYSTAL clear within hours of adding this salt. My corals all perked up and came alive, plus my ph and salinity have been stable. No algae, no cyano returns. I can't believe the tank I wanted was here all along. I want to say a miracle happened, and I don't care why or how, but I just realized the importance of quality salt. Do NOT buy cheap salt, even if it is very popular.
My corals and fish both love this salt. It is very easy to mix. I have tried a few other different salts and the lvls seem to change. every time I mix new water for water changes.
Now I watch a lot of the BRS TV videos I know what he said in the video. I also read the not so nice review here about this salt being salt on steroids. I recently ordered this salt switching from another popular brand. This salt does in fact dissolve faster and clearer. Here is how I did my switch over to this salt brand. Day one 2% water change. Day three 5% water change. Day seven 5% water change. So far everything is doing well and I think this salt is the brand I will be sticking with from here on. My parameters are doing great, corals are looking much better and fish seem to be doing well also. I plan on doing my next water change of 10% on day 14 and then doing a 10% water change from that point out. I think like when adding fish and coral to an aquarium when changing salt brands it is good to make the change in small increments to measure the impact the change may or may not have. I am really liking this salt right now. All parameters are great right from the mix.
When I chose my first reef tank a couple of months ago, I went with a Red Sea Reefer. However, being a brand-loyalist, I stuck with a brand of salt that I was familiar with from years of keeping FOWLR tanks - Instant Ocean. Because I was building a reef tank, I chose reef crystals, which I had not previously had reason to try before. I was very disappointed with the result. Now, I don't want to unfairly blame all of my water chemistry problems on the Instant Ocean folks. After all, I am using a few other products for the first time that could have contributed to some of my issues (such as live sand and reef saver dry rock) - who knows. But I had one heck of a time trying to keep my water chemistry in the target range for pH, alkalinity and calcium. I tried to buffer it and ended up with carbonate precipitation (milky water). I decided to do a water change and used Red Sea Coral Pro Salt Mix and like what I'm seeing so far in terms of those same water chemistry factors. I highly recommend this product and have been happy with all of the Red Sea products I have used thus far. Spend a little more up front and save yourself frustration later - go with Red Sea salt and test kits. They are worth the extra few bucks. Happy reeling. Robert
fish and sps/lps seem happy. Also like the small buckets :)
Very Good it does exactly what it says...
I have been using this salt mix since the start of my tank. All my corals seem to really enjoy it, my nems look amazing, my zoas are spreading and my fish and inverts are doing great!
I really like this salt. I switched from reef crystals about 2 months ago and have noticed and overall more stable tank. I love that it does a great job of keeping Calcium, Alkalinity, and Magnesium in check along with other trace elements. The salt mixes very easy and having the nice little bucket makes it easier to keep then having a reef crystals bag where the slightest moisture would make your salt clump. With the bucket you can fold the bag and close the lid and have the salt ready to go for your next water change. The price is a little more expensive but I really think it is worth it. I am about to set up a new tank and will be using this salt from the get go.
I have a 7.5 gallon nano tank with lps and sps and this salt makes my life so easy. many small water changes a week with no protein skimmer and feeding of the tank on a schedule and everything looks amazing. It makes my life so easy considering the challenge of a nano tank and keeping parameters in check for the sps. I do not have do dose calcium or anything else when I keep up with water changes. Love this salt.
I've used this mix from initial setup 3 years ago, & continue to dose Kh, Ca, Mg to the parameters out of bucket, @a SG of 1.025. Can't speak to issues made here of mixing salts though. All inhabitants thriving & mixing to clarity in just minutes (I always keep mixed water around "just in case") Little pricey than synthetic, its a get what you pay for world
Great salt and a favorite of mine and I have tried several brands. I like this Red Sea Coral Pro salt because it mixes quickly and clearly, doesn't clump and has a high level of Calcium. When I do a water change, everything perks up. Good product.
I tested it with my Red Sea Reef Foundation Pro test kit and the results (Ca, Mg, Alk) matched what they claimed.
We started using Coral Pro Salt when we installed a new 60 cube 4 months ago. I have to say this is a good product. I havent seen very much variation in the numbers between buckets. No nirate spikes due to it being a natural product.
Great salt and mixes fast. It's always been consistent with the parameters. I try to keep an extra bucket on hand for emergencies.
Buy the RS Coral Reef Pro instead of the other cheap salts. If you buy the cheap ones you will spend time and money adding calcium and other additives to get it up to this level of quality.
I tried this in my 6 month old 29g tank that had seen no appreciable coral growth since I had started the reef system. By the 2nd week there was a noticeable difference in many of the corals and my salinity was much more stable! I will be using this from now on.
I was using reef crystals and things were going well did a water change and things went really really bad. Not sure what it was maybe a bad batch or something but I switched to red sea salt. I have never had a problem since with water changes. It keeps all the levels stable and no real PH drop when I change the water. Really happy with how well it dissolves in the water.
BEST SALT EVER TANK LOOK BETTER THAN IT EVER HAS SINCE I HAVE BEEN USING THIS PRODUCT
I love this salt because, it dissolves fast, has dot on alk-mag-cal,and makes my tank thrive. I was a victim of up's "gentle" shipping "skills". salt fine bucket not fine. but anyway i don't care about a god da#&#*# bucket.
I switched to Red Sea Coral Pro when I switched from a FOWLR to a mixed reef. I've had great results and don't plan to use anything else.
I was using another brand of salt for about a year when i switched over to this salt I noticed a dramatic difference in coral growth, health and color! This salt is AWESOME!!!!!!
We have been using the Coral Pro Salt for almost a year now and are impressed with the results. It mixes easily and we do not have to add additional trace elements very often. We currently have aquariums in both of offices at our jobs and 2 more at home and appreciate the simplicity this product gives us.
Love this salt! Mixes perfect for me every time! fast and easy! I have tried a few other brands and this is by far the best in my opinion!
Switched to RedSea Coral Reef Pro after reading the excellent reviews and I am glad I did. My corals are flourishing and my water parameters are spot on. I'm running a 29 biocube reef & fish w/custom sump tank and have not had to dose kalk or 2 part yet with weekly 5% water changes. When you mix it, it only clouds for about 1 minute before going crystal clear and ready to add to tank. Unlike the cheaper salt mixes that need several hours for mixing, Coral Pro is ready in minutes. Note, do not let it mix w/pump for any longer than an hour or it will precipitate. Also, expect the plastic container (larger size of salt mix) to be broken upon delivery. It is placed in a box without foam and UPS handles it very delicately, lol! The inner plastic bag on mine was punctured, but BRS took care of the issues immediately. Cant go wrong with this mix!
Went to my LFS and it turns out they use the same stuff. So far, everything has been very stable with this mix and all of my parameters have been dead on. It mixes well. The only thing that's confusing is that the measurements are by weight, so mixing can be a guessing game.
My sps tank has never looked better, ca mg and dkh levels are right where I want them as a mix. It mixes and dissolves very rapidly, and I have noticed no precipitates in the barrel. I am one of those guys that always has to have the best, and this is the best salt.
Very happy..clears quickly..mix at tank temp. corals are healthy and vibrant.
i was having trouble with calcium magnesum and alkalinity until i started using this salt
I'm new to saltwater(about 6 months in) and started with Instant Ocean salt mix. I constantly had to monitor/test my parameters and dose multiple elements. On top of that, I was getting terrible algae outbreaks. My LFS recommended Red Sea Coral Pro Salt or Salinity Salt. I chose the Red Sea Coral Pro mix. I have a small tank(30 gal + 10 gal sump-about 6 gal of water in it) and perform 5 gal WCs every week(sometimes I will skimp and go 2 weeks before a WC). It took about 2 WCs before I REALLY noticed the results. All my parameters stabilized, the CYANO algae died/disappeared, GHA reduced. The only thing I have to dose now is magnesium and thats only if I go 2 weeks between WCs. I'm super satisfied with this salt mix. Unless something better comes along, this will be my lifetime salt mix.
This is so far the best and my favorite salt. Awesome coral growth, really no need supplements. Its my first time ordering here & based on other reviews I was afraid I might get a broken bucket (cos bad shipment handling) but was lucky to get it in perfect condition :)
This salt is amazing. Mixes quick and spec are as advertised.
Great stuff I was using another salt brand That took forever to mix and my tank was always having issues this stuff now I just finished my first 55 gallon buck and I have noticed corals splitting like crazy regrowth and lots of growth in exisit inc corals. I just bought two more buckets and will continue to use this product in all my future tanks. Well worth the money and I don't normally write reviews. That's how awesome this stuff is.
I ordered this and it arrived supper fast! One thing that caught my eye was that the bucket it came in cracked and cut into the bag of the salt as well. Leaving salt everywhere in the bucket and in shipping box. I live in minnesota myself hence the fast shipping but i wouldnt think that the bucket would break that easily. Is there something we can do here? Other then that this product is great! I would reccomend this to every user out there.
I have been using the wrong salt mix for years and didn't even know it. I always thought i was getting a good product at a great price but it turns out that it was just cheap crap!!! I obtained a small bucket (55gal) in a kit i bought from BRS and figured i'd give it a try. I was amazed at first on how fast and clear it dissolved in my mixing bucket which was the first indicator it was far superior then what i have been using. After a few water changes using Red Sea, there was a noticeable difference with the corals as well. Every thing just seemed happier with better colors and polyp extension I haven't seen using the other cheaper brand. Will never use the cheap stuff ever again!!!
What can I say, this is a great product. I set it up for my 80gal tank, mixed it up for a while and pumped it in. Everything came out perfect, no cloudiness. Love it and recommend it!
Mixes fast and clear and ends up with good levels.
The weight to water volume guidelines are spot-on with no precipitates. Mixes quickly and easily and offers just the right water parameters.
this is the only salt I will use, it dissolves and turns clear in about 15 mins making water changes painless. and I can trust the trace elements Cal Mag Alk will be inline.
I havent ever used any other salt mix. Why should I? It mixes easily and my numbers stay consistent week after week. A good friend recommended it to me when I started and I would recommend it as well
I changed from Instant Ocean, it left scum or a film in my bucket. This so far is quick and easy, no film.
IM SEEING ALL THESE NEGATIVE POSTS ABOUT CLOUDY WATER!! WELL FIRST OFF THIS MIX CAN NOT MIX LONGER THAN 4 HOURS PEOPLE. IF IT DOES THE CALCIUM LEVELS DROP DRAMATICALLY AND I MEAN BIG TIME. HEAT YOUR WATER, ME I GO TO 76 DEGREES THEN I ADD MY SALT AND I MIX FOR 3 HOURS. TURN OFF ALL PUMPS LET SIT FOR ANOTHER HOUR AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO CLOUDINESS. NONE. IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW DIRECTIONS THEN YOU SHOULDN'T KEEP A REEF TANK IN THE FIRST PLACE IMO.
I switched to this product from Instant Ocean and don't regret it at all. Only negative I see is that the water is kind of cloudy in my bucket. I mix the water for 2 hours and let it sit for 24 hours until the water change. However, the water in my tank is crystal clear so I guess it clears up. I also have had problems with Instant Ocean clumping up, has not happened since the switch.
Read the directions!! I have see many people complain about how this product clouds up. Here is my 2.5 cents. 1. This is probably the most important step.... Roll the bucket around for 5-10 minutes to redistribute the different size crystals that have settled during storage and shipping. 2. Raise your ro/di water to 68 deg. 3. Add the required amount of salt and let it circulate to mix for 1-2 hours. 4. STOP MIXING, raise the temp to 77 5. Do your water change
I have used many different salt mixes and always come back to this product. My corals Very consistent make up and easy to mix. My corals do well with this product.
I used to buy the premixed water from the big brick and mortar store for my nano. I don't know why I didn't switch to mixing my own years ago. It's so easy and cost soooooo much less.
I have tried other salt varieties, but Red Sea Coral Pro Salt is 2nd to none in my opinion, I've never had issues with clumping that I had with previous brands. The PH remains stable and all of it dissolves which was an issue in the past as well. The only drawback is its expensive to ship, but the way around that if you can afford to buy 3 BRS ships free at $175.00
I have been out of the hobby for a couple of years and wanted to try a different product. Mixes well and levels are good.
I had a fellow reefer refer me to this type of salt after I was using Instant Ocean Salt and was unable to maintain my calc and alk levels. After switching to Red Sea Coral Pro, I have not had to dose two part as much as I usually used to do. I would recommend this product to all reefers.
I have been reefing for about 7 years and do not use any other salt! It keeps the parameters perfect, I stopped dosing everything (even B-ionic) once I started using this salt so I won't be looking back. I do 10% water changes every other week and don't have to worry about anything else. Note that I do not keep SPS corals though.
I have used this salt since the start of my system. I have read that once you find a salt that your tank responds well to stay with it. This salt does just that. I instantly see results from all my corals as soon as I do a water change. With in a few days you can see new growth. so far all the levels are in check. Overall, this is a really good salt. If you are on the fence about this, go ahead and give it a try. It mixes up in a few hours. it says 1.6 pounds per 5 gals. i use a digital scale and convert it to OZ. Which for 5 gal it is 25.6 oz.. Every time I do a 5 gal water change and use that ratio it is spot on at 1.025 S.G. hope this helps.
This salt is the best I have used so far. It dissolves quickly and I get consistent readings on calcium and magnesium batch to batch. Corals definitely look healthier since using this salt.
Mixed clear with Alk 11 and PH 8.3 after about 3 hours. Has a fine consistency kind of like BRS soda ash. Haven't tested other params but trust their stats. Like others have said they need to do something about the buckets. It's in a plastic bag inside the bucket but still leaking salt out everywhere upon arrival. Cracked bottom.
I switched over to this salt after using reef crystals for over a year in my nano. My corals after a month started to show vivid amazing colors. I made keeping all my levels in a steady pace real simple, But also brought everything I needed in a salt that most brands didn't. I'm glad i made the switch. You will not regret it either.
i made the mistake and tried others and i have to say that i significant differences in the very short time i used the "other" salt. i will only use red sea coral pro. and even better when i buy it from BRS.
