Aqua Natural Coarse Aragonite Sand is a premium substrate ideal for establishing a healthy and stable saltwater aquarium. Sourced directly from the crystal-clear oceans of The Bahamas, this aragonite-based sand provides unsurpassed buffering capability, helping to naturally maintain the proper pH balance crucial for marine life. It also offers a vast surface area for the colonization of beneficial bacteria that are essential for breaking down waste products. Comprised of up to 98% pure calcium carbonate, this substrate works to keep your aquarium's pH stable at 8.2 without the constant need for chemical additives. The porous nature of the coarse grains creates an ideal environment for housing large populations of ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate-reducing bacteria, contributing to superior biological filtration. While perfect for marine tanks, this versatile sand is also safe and effective for freshwater African Cichlid aquariums where a higher pH is desired. This substrate is perfect for aquarists of all levels, from beginners setting up their first tank to experienced hobbyists looking to enhance an existing system. Its natural buffering qualities make it an excellent choice for those who want to simplify their maintenance routine and create a more stable environment for fish and invertebrates. Whether you are building a new reef, a fish-only system, or supplementing an established sand bed, this Bahamian aragonite provides a reliable foundation for a thriving aquatic ecosystem.
