I have the Curve 7 for the past 8 years and it works 24 hours a day with no issues. I have 125 gallon reef tank with DIY 29 gallon sump and Refugium. In fact, Uv light melted part of the skimmer body and it still works as expected. I can not find any replacement parts for the body, but nevertheless this Curve 7 keeps pulling out all the gunk. I recommend it highly.
I have a this and the 5 curve. I love these skimmers. When I see people having bubble issues I DID also. However I just turned the bubble diffuser and that’s the issue. One other tip for “tuning” the bubbles in the skimmer, I used a coralife WOODEN airstone from a skimmer i had 16 years ago! They choke it off a little to get the bigger bubbles for a better skim once it’s broken in.
After 4 years of using this skimmer I have to say this is amazing!!!! it pulls the skim I want either wet or dry very accurately. the pump is very consistent as well. I break down and clean the entire unit yearly and hasn't skipped a beat yet. Previous skimmer I used was a octo and it was junk. constantly overflowing never consistent skimming. if you are looking for a great skimmer get the Curve 7
I didn't purchase the Curve 7 from BRS. The skimmer has been working great for the past 8-9 months, pulls tons of light to dark gunk; depends on the setting. But, if I have to purchase one again then I would buy the Reef Octopus Varios series. Curve 7 becomes a pain to control when I treat my tank with ChemiClean for cyano.
I love my Curve 7, it's built like a tank and is easy to tune and get a constant skim mate. Mine came to me 2nd hand but I've personally used it on my 90 and 125 gallon reefs for over 2 years and its still a work horse.
