Bio-Active Carbon is a specialized filtration media designed to enhance water quality in saltwater aquariums by removing organic waste and toxic substances. Its unique pore size structure promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria that help eliminate ammonia, nitrite, phenols, heavy metals, chlorine, and chloramine from the tank water without leaching phosphate or releasing adsorbed molecules back into the water. It is recommended to rinse the carbon in reverse osmosis deionized (RODI) water before use and replace it monthly based on stocking levels—15 grams for lightly stocked tanks, 25 grams for moderately stocked tanks, and up to 50 grams for heavily stocked aquariums.
